Two London clubs which seem to be constantly veering from crisis to crisis meet head on as Arsenal host West Ham United at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon. The latest episode for the Gunners was last week’s shock Europa League exit, while the Hammers enjoyed a rare encouraging win last time out.

Last time: Arsenal recovered from going a goal down at the London Stadium in December, with second-half strikes from Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rendering Angelo Ogbonna’s opener meaningless.

Arsenal v West Ham Predictions and Preview

Although Arsenal lost 1-0 to West Ham last season, the Gunners have otherwise reigned supreme over the Hammers in recent campaigns. Arsenal have won six of the last eight meetings between the two capital clubs, while West Ham were last victorious at the Emirates in August 2015.

Mikel Arteta’s team aren’t in a good place right now though. After the heartbreak of their Europa League exit at the hands of Olympiacos and lying 10th in the Premier League, a return to the Champions League next season seems remote.

Yet Arsenal are only five points behind fifth-placed Manchester United, which could yield a place at the top table should Manchester City’s European ban be upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Arteta must rally his troops, and Monday’s FA Cup victory at Portsmouth was a start.

The injury to Lucas Torreira doesn’t help though, while Sead Kolasinac, Kieran Tierney and Calum Chambers further restrict Arsenal’s defensive options. David Moyes has problems at the other end of the pitch, although Andriy Yarmolenko is nearing a return to action in what will be a major boost for West Ham’s relegation battle.

The Hammers dispatched Southampton 3-1 at the weekend to move out of the bottom three, but the threat of dropping out of the top flight remains a very real one. Just don’t tell David Sullivan or David Gold.

Arsenal may be unbeaten in their last seven Premier League fixtures, but four of those games have ended in draws. They’re still the favourites for the win in this one though, priced at 4/7 in the latest betting odds. West Ham are 11/2, with the draw available at 17/5

One to watch for Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed a last-gasp sitter in Arsenal’s Europa League exit last week, but the Gunners captain has managed 17 goals in 25 Premier League appearances so far this term. He is 13/5 to break the deadlock in this one.

One to watch for West Ham: Sebastien Haller had a great game against Southampton last weekend, with his rabona through ball a lovely moment of skill. The Frenchman also got his name on the scoresheet, and 19/2 to do so again here with the opening goal of the game.

Long shot: West Ham’s last victory at the Emirates was a 2-0 success four and a half years ago. The Hammers are 40/1 to win by the same scoreline this weekend.
