Atalanta v Inter Predictions and Preview
Atalanta have wobbled in recent weeks but few would have predicted their capitulation on Tuesday. Gian Piero Gasperini’s troops have arguably been the most entertaining outfit in Europe over the last two campaigns but have always been vulnerable defensively.
La Dea have eight top players jostling for three attacking berths and the trio selected will all be desperate to bounce back in style. Luis Muriel is 5/1 to break the deadlock, and will be joined by Duvan Zapata who is 18/5 to open proceedings. Long range specialist Ruslan Malinovskiy is 13/2 to score last and Atalanta are 7/4 to emerge triumphant and potentially climb as high as second.

The visitors have only won one of their last seven matches in all competitions and the pressure is intensifying on Antonio Conte. The former Chelsea and Juventus boss made his demands in the off-season, which were duly met by Beppe Marotta and the minimum requirement is one trophy this year.
With the spectre of Max Allegri reportedly looming large, Conte needs to start getting results, but will have to do so without his talisman Romelu Lukaku. The hitman missed the stalemate with Parma, the loss in Spain and is still nursing a muscle injury.
The ex-Manchester United forward will be replaced by either Alexis Sanchez or Ivan Perisic, and the Croatian, a winger by trade, may get the nod after netting in midweek. Like many of his team-mates, Perisic has had to work hard to win over Conte and his versatility is priceless.
The 2019-20 Champions League victor is 17/2 to open proceedings, while Lautaro Martinez is available at 5/1. Conte always encourages his wing-backs to push on and Young and Achraf Hakimi are 15/4 and 7/2, respectively in the anytime scorer market. Inter are 13/10 to get back on track and a draw is 5/2.
One to watch for Atalanta: Papu Gomez is considered the best playmaker in the division and is the heartbeat of the side. The diminutive Argentine is 11/5 to notch anytime.
One to watch for Inter: Conte has a plethora of midfielders at his disposal and Roberto Gagliardini was expected to be made surplus to requirements. However, the Italian has battled the odds and is a key member of the squad. The former Atalanta ace is 5/1 to bag anytime.
Long shot: After being given the run around by Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, the Atalanta rearguard will be breathing a sigh of relief they don’t have to face Lukaku. The striker has been a revelation since moving to Giuseppe Meazza and Inter are a completely different prospect in his absence. A 3-1 success for the home dressing room is 20/1.
