Atalanta v PSG Predictions and Preview
La Dea just fell short of 100 goals in Serie A but still scored 17 more than closest challengers Inter. Gian Piero Gasperini’s entertainers may be well down the pecking order of favourites for the competition but the Italian won’t be phased.
Atalanta have the firepower to unsettle any squad on the continent and the Serie A title race would have gone to the final day of the term were it not for some questionable refereeing decisions in La Dea’s blockbuster tie with Juventus.
Gasperini will unfortunately be without Josip Ilicic. The Slovenian has struck on 20 occasions and also contributed five assists in a stellar season. Ruslan Malinovskiy will deputise and has been a revelation since play resumed. The recruit from Genk can play anywhere across the forward line and ensured his colleague’s absence has not been too badly felt.
|Our Eurotips||Odds||Free bets||Bookie|
|Atalanta to win and both teams to score||16/5||Offer|
|Robin Gosens to score anytime||22/5||Offer|
|PSG to win 2-1||15/2||Offer|
Malinovskiy is 33/10 to score anytime while Duvan Zapata is 27/5 to break the deadlock. The burly hitman gave the Bianconeri backline a nightmare and will target Presnel Kimpembe who is the weak link in the opposing defence. Atalanta are 15/8 to advance in normal time and 21/20 to qualify. The draw after 90 minutes is 11/4.
Thomas Tuchel is still sweating on the fitness of World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe. The Paris native was scythed down by Loic Perrin in the Coupe de France final just over a week ago and certainly won’t be match fit. The former Monaco youngster is more likely to feature in the closing stages and is 22/5 to notch the final effort.
Neymar is 21/4 to open proceedings as he bids to guide PSG to a maiden European crown. The ex-Barcelona fan favourite will be partnered by Mauro Icardi and Julian Draxler with Angel Di Maria suspended and Edinson Cavani opting to leave at the end of his contract. The Parisians are 6/5 to emerge triumphant once the board comes up and 7/10 outright.
One to watch for Atalanta: Luis Muriel is enjoying the best season of his career and is a danger from the bench. The Colombian is 13/2 to register the last goal.
One to watch for PSG: Mauro Icardi is the ultimate fox in the box and will make the keeper work if afforded any opportunities. The prolific striker is 5/1 to net first.
Long shot: On paper, the meeting between the French champions and Atalanta should deliver. La Dea can score three or four goals but are just as capable of shipping the same number at the other end. With Mbappe a probable addition late on, expect a fast start from the Italians. A 3-2 result for Gasperini’s group is 22/1.
