Athletic Bilbao vs. Sevilla Predictions and Preview

Since replacing Eduardo Berizzo at the helm, Gaizka Garitano is undefeated as Athletic Bilbao boss – picking up eight points from his four games at the helm.

Along with draw against Alaves and Real Valladolid, the Basque giants have defeated Girona and Celta Vigo – whom they defeated 2-1 on Monday night.

Sevilla sit third in the standings, one place and two points behind Atletico Madrid, having been held 1-1 in four of their last fives games – at Alaves, Valencia and Leganes, before a draw against Diego Simeone’s side.

Pablo Machin’s side had won ten home games in a row in all competitions before that Atleti draw, but are without an away victory in five attempts.

Unsurprisingly, neither side are clear favourites for this encounter as Sevilla are at odds of 9/5 with an Athletic victory priced at 6/4 and the draw available at 21/10.

These fixtures tend to produce few goals with just four going in across the three previous meetings, so Under 1.5 goals at 9/4 appears to be a solid bet with Under 2.5 at 7/10.

A ‘double chance’ on Sevilla to come away with either a draw or a win is available at 1/2 while an Athletic win/draw outcome is at 4/9.

If you fancy the away side to be leading at both half-time and at the final whistle, such odds are available at 19/5.

Latest Form

V

One to watch for Athletic Bilbao: Iker Munain is up to five La Liga goals for the campaign for the Basque club and netted in Monday’s victory at Celta Vigo. The in-form winger is at 11/4 to find the net in this game.

One to watch for Sevilla: Andre Silva has been on fire for Pablo Machin’s side this season following his season-long loan arrival from Milan. The Portuguese international has netted eight league goals already this season and is priced at 13/8 to net here.

Long shot: Athletic Bilbao have conceded just twice across their last four home games in all competitions while Sevilla have conceded just five goals in their last nine games. Odds of this game to finish scoreless are at 15/2.
