Atletico Madrid v Getafe Predictions and Preview
With Barcelona flattering to deceive under Ronald Koeman and Zinedine Zidane under constant pressure across the capital, Los Rojiblancos have their best chance of winning the championship since 2013-14.
Diego Simeone is more in the mould of Jose Mourinho than Jurgen Klopp but deserves credit for evolving Atletico offensively. Only Barcelona have scored more than the league leaders this campaign and there are goals throughout the squad. Defenders Mario Hermoso and Jose Gimenez have contributed, while Kieran Trippier is a constant supply line down the right flank.
Further forward, the arrival of Luis Suarez, coupled with the adaptation of Joao Felix has given Los Rojiblancos an elite cutting edge. The future of the Uruguayan was one of the stories of the off-season and Suarez still has plenty to offer. The 33-year-old is only five away from bettering Alvaro Morata’s domestic haul for 2019-20 and is the perfect foil for his young strike partner.
|Our Eurotips||Odds||Free bets||Bookie|
|Atletico Madrid to win 3-0||10/1||Offer|
|Over 3.5 goals||4/1||Offer|
|Saul Niguez to score anytime||19/5||Offer|
Felix arrived to much fanfare in the summer of 2019 but struggled in his new surroundings. Fast forward 12 months and the Portuguese starlet is one of the standout performers in the division and instrumental to any hopes of silverware. The Viseu native is 16/5 to open proceedings, while Suarez can be found at 5/2.
Atletico have a lot of quality in the starting eleven, but also in reserve. Thomas Lemar, Yannick Carrasco, Diego Costa and Angel Correa will all hope to feature after the break and the ex-Chelsea fan favourite is 24/5 to register last. The hosts are 11/20 to get the better of Getafe.
The Azulones are reliant on Ángel Rodríguez and Cucho Hernández to trouble Stefan Savic and Felipe. The Getafe number 9 is 7/2 to score anytime and Watford owned Hernández is 18/5. The travelling party are 13/2 to inflict only a second loss on Atletico and a draw is 14/5.
One to watch for Atletico Madrid: Llorente started out as a holding midfielder but has played in a more advanced role under Simeone. The Real youth graduate has netted six times this term and is 15/2 to bag first.
One to watch for Getafe: Marc Cucurella was on the radar of Napoli, Arsenal and Chelsea last summer but opted to sign permanently with the Madrid based outfit. Comfortable anywhere down the left flank, the Spaniard is 17/2 to notch anytime.
Long shot: Getafe have scored a paltry 11 goals this year and not only face the meanest defence in Europe, but one of the most devastating attacks in Suarez and Felix. Atletico have conceded on just five occasions from 13 fixtures and the favourites for the title should coast to victory. A 4-0 outcome is 28/1.
