Atletico Madrid v Levante Predictions and Preview
A La Liga season like no other throws up a rare quirk this week, with Atletico Madrid and Levante playing each other home and away. The home team have made up their game in hand over the majority of the other teams in the division, with Diego Simeone’s side looking to extend their lead at the top of the table on Saturday.
Real Madrid are in action later in the day and Barcelona are playing on Sunday, so Atletico have another chance to pile the pressure on those two Clasico rivals. Los Rojiblancos are aiming to secure their first La Liga title since 2014, and only their second in the last 25 years.
Although they are currently enjoying a healthy lead over Real and Barca, there’s plenty of time for a blip to destroy Atleti’s season. They’ve been excellent so far though, responding to losing two late points against Celta Vigo the other week by beating Granada 2-1 last weekend.

Atletico Madrid to win to nil
Atletico Madrid to win 2-0
Suarez to score 2 or more goals
With Luis Suarez on fire and top of the La Liga scoring charts, the hosts are the clear favourites for the win in this Atletico Madrid v Levante preview. Los Rojiblancos have won five of their last six games against Los Granotas, drawing the other, and are 8/15 for the win.
Levante are priced at 33/5 and they are in pretty good shape at present, enjoying some mid-table security and looking to finish the season in the top half. Paco Lopez wouldn’t consider his team completely out of the relegation scrap just yet, so a point against the hot favourites to win the league would be a positive result.
The stalemate on Saturday is 3/1 with William Hill. The visitors will have to try and get a result without the help of injured trio Gonzalo Melero, Nikola Vukcevic and Jose Campana, while Atletico are still missing the suspended Kieran Trippier. Thomas Lemar, Hector Herrera and Moussa Dembele remain doubtful due to Covid-19.
One to watch for Atletico Madrid: Luis Suarez drew a rare blank in Atletico’s win against Granada last weekend. The Uruguay striker scored seven goals in his four games prior to that though, and is the 11/4 favourite to open the scoring in these Atletico Madrid v Levante predictions.
One to watch for Levante: Jose Luis Morales also drew a blank last weekend as Levante lost 1-0 to Osasuna. Los Granotas’ top scorer bagged three in his two La Liga games before that though and is 12/1 to notch his 11th league goal of the season by netting the opener against Atletico.
Long shot: Atletico Madrid have won each of their last 11 home matches against Levante, scoring 26 goals at an average of 2.4 per game and keeping six clean sheets in the process. Los Rojiblancos have been excellent defensively this season and they are 13/2 to win this game 2-0. If you add Suarez as the first scorer, those odds rise to 25/1, while it’s 135/1 if the Uruguayan gets both goals.
