Barcelona v Getafe Predictions and Preview
Barcelona are going through the biggest transitional period in the club’s history, but they could hardly ask for a better opponent as they bid to go three unbeaten in the new La Liga season. Getafe did beat the Catalan giants 1-0 on home soil last season, but Los Azulones have never won at the Nou Camp.
Barca have won 23 of the 32 clashes between the clubs since Getafe were promoted to the top flight for the first time in their short history in 2004. Los Azulones have only spent one season outside La Liga since, but they’ve lost on 12 of their 16 visits to the Nou Camp, including each of the last three.
The Blaugrana have won nine of the last 11 meetings between the sides, scoring 29 goals and letting in only five at the other end in the process. That averages out at 3.2 goals scored per game and 0.6 conceded, with a 3-1 home win priced at 11/1 with William Hill.

Griezmann to score first
If you’re more interested in the outright odds in this Barcelona v Getafe preview, you can back Ronald Koeman’s side at 3/7. The Catalans beat Real Sociedad 4-2 in their opening La Liga fixture, before dropping two points away to Athletic Bilbao in a 1-1 draw last time out.
Another stalemate here is 4/1, and would no doubt suit the visitors far more than the hosts. Getafe have lost both of their matches so far this season 1-0, narrowly going down away to Valencia and then at home to Sevilla. A victory at the Nou Camp would be an historic moment for Michel’s side, and at 8/1, they’ve rarely had a better chance of securing one.
They’ll have to try and do so without Sabit Abdulai and Dario Poveda though, with the pair missing out on this trip to Catalonia due to knee injuries. Barca will be missing Eric Garcia after his late red card against Bilbao, while Ansu Fati, Gerard Pique, Sergio Aguero and Marc Andre ter Stegen are among the injury absentees for the home team.
One to watch for Barcelona: Antoine Griezmann was on target from the penalty spot the last time these teams met. He’s yet to score so far this season and is 9/2 to put that right by netting the opener in these Barcelona v Getafe predictions.
One to watch for Getafe: Young Mexican striker Jose Juan Macias is waiting for his first start for Getafe after joining on an initial season-long loan from Guadalajara. He came off the bench in Los Azulones’ opening fixture and is 43/5 in the anytime scorer market this weekend.
Long shot: The hosts are 11/1 to win 3-1 in these Barcelona v Getafe tips, but if you’re after even bigger odds you could try adding Griezmann as the first scorer for a price of 65/1. Barca are desperate for the French forward to step up in their bid to move on from the summer’s saga surrounding Messi, and the devastating outcome it produced.
