Barcelona v Leganes Predictions and Preview
Barcelona are looking for their fourth straight victory over Leganes in this match, with the Catalan giants netting 10 goals and conceding only two in reply. Barca have won seven of the eight meetings between these sides since Leganes were promoted to the top flight in 2016, with Los Pepineros managing a sole victory on home soil last season.
Indeed, Barca were 2-1 winners at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque in November, and beat their visitors this week 3-1 in last season’s corresponding fixture. Quique Setien’s side returned to action following the enforced break with a trip to Mallorxca on Saturday, having won four of their six matches immediately prior to the halt in action.
The other two games were a draw at Napoli in the Champions League and a loss away to Real Madrid in March’s El Clasico. The home team shouldn’t have any such problems here, with the Blaugrana duking it out with Real at the top of the league. Leganes, on the other hand, returned from the break in 19th place, only three points from safety but with a tough job on their hands.

Barcelona to win to nil
Barcelona to win 5-0
Messi to score first
Javier Aguirre will hope the break doesn’t halt the momentum his team had slowly been building up following a dreadful start to the season. Leganes failed to win any of their first nine La Liga matches this term, and only won one of their opening 15, losing 11. Their next 12 games brought four wins and only three defeats, giving Los Pepineros hope of pulling off a miraculous escape act.
Even so, the visitors are the massive underdogs in this one. Barca’s team is packed with world class talent, even if Ousmane Dembele is out of action for the time being. Clement Lenglet return from suspension to bolster Setien’s defensive options, while Leganes have a clean bill of health coming into the game. Alexander Szymanowski is the only concern as he continues to build his fitness following knee surgery.
A full squad still doesn’t give the away team much hope for this trip to Catalonia, with Barcelona the heavy odds-on favourites to take the three points. They are 1/5 for the win, while Leganes are 18/1 and the draw is priced at 34/5.
One to watch for Barcelona: Lionel Messi is fit and raring to go as he bids to lead his team to a third straight La Liga title. He has 19 league goals so far this term and is the 21/10 favourite to reach 20 with the opening goal on Tuesday.
One to watch for Leganes: Oscar Rodriguez is Leganes’s key to survival this season. He has seven goals so far this term, including a match-winning brace in his team’s last game before the break, and is 12/1 to net the opener in this one.
Long shot: Barca put five past Leganes the last time the teams met – the second time they’ve done so since 2016. The Blaugrana are 17/1 to win this game 5-0, which could be worth a few euros at those odds if you like to predict the correct score on your weekly betslip.
