Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano Predictions and Preview

If Barcelona still harboured any faint hope of catching bitter rivals Real Madrid at the top of the league this season, they were extinguished last weekend when they lost at home to relegation-threatened Cádiz. The crowd were already unhappy about the exit from the Europa League to Eintracht Frankfurt just days earlier. There was also frustration about the number of German fans allowed into the Camp Nou for that game. So losing to Cádiz made things just a little worse.

Rayo Vallecano fans can sympathise with their counterparts though. After starting the season so well, Rayo have plummeted down the league this year and are now nervously looking at the teams below to see if they will have to fight against relegation. With only a few more games left in the season, every point is crucial. But getting anything from a trip to the Camp Nou is a big ask.

Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano full time result odds

After that shock home defeat to Cádiz, Barcelona need to make sure there are no more errors as the campaign enters the final stretch. Champions League football is not quite guaranteed for next season yet and three points here would go a long way in seeing off the challenge from Real Betis and Real Sociedad. This should be a fairly comfortable home win for Barcelona though and the odds of 2/7 reflect that.

Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano both teams to score odds

Rayo Vallecano have had a torrid time since the turn of the year and are one of the lowest scorers in La Liga. So it doesn’t look too positive for Andoni Iraola’s men on Sunday. Cádiz showed how anything can happen, of course. But it would be a surprise if Rayo come away from the Camp Nou with a goal, let alone a point or three here. The bet against both teams to score at 4/5 looks best.

Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano correct score odds

With Mallorca coming up at home after this one for Barcelona, it would seem to be a perfect time for Xavi’s side to prove that they belong near the top of La Liga after what has been a frustrating campaign. Rayo will probably look to play it tight at the back but Barca need to pile on the pain. This could be the game where they score a few goals and 15/2 for a 3-0 win looks attractive.

Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano first goalscorer odds

With Pedri and Gerard Piqué out for this one, Xavi has been forced to reshuffle his team at a crucial time in the season. But there is still a lot of attacking talent in this Barca squad. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has certainly enjoyed himself since moving from Arsenal in January but Memphis Depay is still the club’s top goalscorer this season and could be a better option when it comes to finding the net first on Sunday.
