Barcelona vs. Real Betis Predictions and Preview
Despite the Spanish top flight enduring a crazy opening three months, it is no surprise that Barcelona once more sit at the top of the table.
Ernesto Valverde’s side are three points clear at the top of the table, but the surprise is that city rivals Espanyol currently sit second.
Barca have certainly not hit top gear yet and were extremely fortunate to pick up victory at Rayo Vallecano, secured with two late goals despite a below-par performance.
Betis on the other hand are struggling with results, picking up just one point in their last four games – but blowing a 2-0 lead at home to Celta Vigo last time out before rescuing a 3-3 draw.
It is unsurprising that it is the home side who are strong favourites to win this encounter at odds of 1/5, with Betis priced at 12/1 and the draw available at 11/2.
These fixtures tend to produce a lot of goals with 38 going in across the last nine meetings, while five went in during Barca’s last game and six for Betis. With this in mind, over 4.5 goals at 85/40 appears to be a solid bet with over 5.5 at 9/2.
A ‘double chance’ on Betis to come away with either a draw or a win is available at 18/5 while a Barca win/draw outcome is at 1/50.
If you fancy the away side to be leading at both half-time and at the final whistle, such odds are available at 8/13.
One to watch for Barcelona: Luis Suarez has netted six goals in his last three La Liga outings to take him up to nine goals for the campaign and took the Barca attacking mantle in Lionel Messi’s absence, who is also set to return here. Suarez is 12/25 to find the net at any point in this clash.
One to watch for Real Betis: Loren Moron has netted 10 La Liga goals since his first-team debut in February, including the opener last Sunday against Celta Vigo. The Betis youth product is priced at 7/2 to score in this game.
Long shot: Prior to last weekend, Betis were the lowest scorers in the league with just five goals in 10 league outings but conversely, they have kept nine clean sheets this season. Odds of this game to finish scoreless are available at 32/1.
