Barcelona vs. Sevilla Predictions and Preview
Not many people would have predicted that Sevilla would be league leaders at this stage of the season, fewer more after they lost back-to-back league games against Real Betis and Getafe.
However, four consecutive league victories including a 3-0 triumph over Real Madrid have turned the situation on its head and Pablo Machin’s side sit at the league’s summit.
Barcelona are still just one point behind despite going four games without a victory in La Liga, drawing with Girona, Athletic Bilbao and Valencia while losing at Leganes.
However, despite the league positions it is the home side who are favourites to win this encounter at odds of 1/3, with Sevilla priced at 13/2 and the draw available at 9/2.
These fixtures tend to produce goals with three or more going in across each of the last seven matches, so over 2.5 goals at 3/10 appears to be a solid bet.
A ‘double chance’ on Sevilla to come away with either a draw or a win is available at 9/4 while a Barca win/draw outcome is at 1/10.
If you fancy the home side to be leading at both half-time and at the final whistle, such odds are available at 19/20.
One to watch for Barcelona: Lionel Messi netted 34 goals in 36 La Liga outings last season and already has six in eight this time around. He has scored six goals in his last seven games against Sevilla and is priced at 12/25 to score anytime here.
One to watch for Sevilla: Andre Silva only scored two goals in Serie A last season for Milan but already has seven in just eight La Liga games on loan at Sevilla and is 9/4 to score here.
Long shot: Barcelona have drawn each of their last two home league games while Sevilla will aim to keep the scoring in this game to an absolute minimum. Odds of this game to finish scoreless are available at 40/1.
