Last time: Robert Lewandowski hit a brace inside the opening 10 minutes when the teams met in the semi-finals of the German Cup back in April, paving the way for Thomas Muller to bag a hat-trick in a 6-2 Bayern victory.

Bayern Munich v Bayer Leverkusen Predictions and Preview

Everything coming into this game points to a home victory. Bayern scored 12 goals their three wins against Leverkusen last season, and are unbeaten in the last seven meetings between the sides. Die Roten have won the last five in Munich, and recorded two 3-1 victories over Die Werkself in the Bundesliga last term.

Football isn’t played on paper, but you won’t get very good odds on the home win whichever betting slip you have in your hand. With Bayern priced at 1/5 for the win, you’ll have to add some extra selections to your bet in order to get some value out of Niko Kovac’s side.

Der FCB have started the new campaign in as imperious form as ever, seeing off Hoffenheim 3-1 at the Allianz Arena before beating last season’s seventh-placed side, Stuttgart, 3-0 away from home. Leverkusen, meanwhile, have started off with two defeats, which doesn’t help their case coming into this game.

Heiko Herrlich’s side lost at Borussia Monchengladbach in their opening fixture, before a 3-1 defeat against Wolfsburg in front of their own fans. Leverkusen are available at 53/4 for the win on Saturday, but even at that price it’s one to avoid.

At least the visitors won’t have to get past Mats Hummels on their way to goal, as the defender recovers from an Achilles problem. Kingsley Coman is the only other injury concern for the hosts, while Joel Pohjanpalo, Julian Baumgartlinger and Panagiotis Takis Retsos could all miss out for the away side.

The draw here is priced at 31/5, but again that looks like a bet to stay clear of. Leverkusen managed to get on the scoresheet in all three of their games against Bayern last season, and Die Roten are 6/4 to win once again with both teams scoring.

One to watch for Bayern Munich: Robert Lewandowski scored three goals in two appearances against Leverkusen last season, and he has two in two so far this term. He is 15/8 to score first on Saturday.

One to watch for Bayer Leverkusen: Leon Bailey put Leverkusen into the lead in their last game against Wolfsburg. They ending up losing, but Bailey is 22/1 for the first goal in this one.

Long shot: Bayern are 9/1 to beat Leverkusen 3-1 in a third successive Bundesliga game, but if you fancy them to go even bigger, you can back the home team at 125/1 to record a second straight 6-2 victory over Die Werkself.
