Borussia Dortmund host Augsburg on Saturday in an attempt to bounce back after suffering a disappointing 1-0 defeat away to Borussia Monchengladbach. Marco Rose’s men are undefeated in their last six home games against Augsburg, who have scored just two goals this term and are yet to get a win on the road.

Last time: Augsburg took an early lead thanks to Andre Hahn’s strike in their last meeting against Borussia Dortmund back in January at the Westfalenstadion. However, strikes from Thomas Delaney and Jadon Sancho, as well as an own goal by Felix Uduokhai, turned the game around as BVB earned a 3-1 victory.
Borussia Dortmund v Augsburg Predictions and Preview
Borussia Dortmund registered their second Bundesliga defeat of the season last week, when they were beaten 1-0 by Borussia Monchengadbach away from home. Marco Rose’s men were particularly unimpressive in that game, as they failed to register a shot on target, while Mahmoud Dahoud was sent off after getting a second yellow card.
It’s been a tough week for Dahoud, as the midfielder limped off in the 1-0 win over Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday, so he adds to the long injury list at BVB. Besides him, Marco Rose will have to do without Emre Can, Giovanni Reyna, Mateu Morey, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Marcel Schmelzer against Augsburg.
Erling Haaland didn’t play against the Portuguese champions, as he also missed the trip to Monchengladbach due to a muscle injury. However, the Norwegian superstar is expected to return to the starting XI this weekend and this would be a huge boast for Dortmund’s chances.
BVB have three wins and two losses in their last five games against Augsburg, but they boast a much better record at home. Dortmund are undefeated in their last six home games against this opponent, managing four wins and two draws. The Black and Yellows boast a goal difference of 19-8 during that run, but it’s worth noting that Augsburg have scored at least once in each of those games.
Four of the last six games between these teams have seen over 3.5 goals and this can be backed again at 17/10. Ten of their last 11 meetings have seen both teams scoring, which is available at 4/5 with William Hill.
However, Augsburg have struggled immensely in front of goal since the start of the campaign, as Markus Weinzierl’s men have only two goals after six Bundesliga games and both of them were scored in home games.
Augsburg’s struggles in attack mean that Borussia Dortmund are heavy 2/9 favourites to win this weekend. The draw is priced at 11/2, while a what would be a shock victory for the visitors is available at 12/1.
One to watch for Borussia Dortmund: Erling Haaland has had a sensational start of the season with seven strikes in five Bundesliga appearances. The Norwegian wonder kid scored a hat-trick against Augsburg in the 5-3 victory for Dortmund back in 2020 and is 6/4 to break the deadlock here.
One to watch for Augsburg: Augsburg have scored only two goals in the Bundesliga this term and both strikes came from Florian Niederlechner. The 30-year-old striker has three goals against Borussia Dortmund in his career and is 12/1 to score first on Saturday.
Long shot: Borussia Dortmund have scored three goals in three of their last five games at home, while the last meeting between these teams ended in a 3-1 victory for BVB. A repeat of that result is available at 9/1, rising to 24/1 if you pair this with Haaland to score the opener. If you are looking for even bigger odds, you can add Niederlechner to get on the scoreboard as well, which raises the odd up to 104/1.
