Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich Predictions and Preview
Borussia Dortmund fell agonisingly short in their quest to win the Bundesliga but appear well poised to take the challenge to Bayern this term. BVB lost Christian Pulisic to Premier League giants Chelsea but recruited well this summer with Thorgan Hazard, Julian Brandt and Nico Schulz all joining the ranks. Hummels also rejoined the club and will bolster the Dortmund backline which lacks experience.
Hazard, sibling of Real Madrid star Eden, played a part in 20 goals for Borussia Mönchengladbach from just 33 appearances and is the latest shrewd buy to arrive for a relatively modest fee. The attacking midfielder is 3/1 to strike anytime during the encounter.
Meanwhile, colleague Jadon Sancho is a highly attractive 19/2 to open proceedings and will certainly be one to watch. The starlet had a stunning debut season in Germany and it has been well documented Manchester United are keen on securing the services of the speedster.
Sancho is expected to remain in the Bundesliga for at least one more year in a real boost for boss Lucien Favre. BVB are 6/5 to lift the trophy on home soil.
Visitors Bayern still have some business to do with Leroy Sane the number one target. The Manchester City winger has yet to decide his future as the champions seek a replacement for departed duo Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. Lewandowski will lead the attack and is 17/5 to register first against his former club, while Niko Kovac’s squad are 8/13 to secure glory on the night.
One to watch for Borussia Dortmund: Marco Reus is 13/2 to score last and was recently voted Germany’s footballer of the year after a 17 goal haul in 2018-19.
One to watch for Bayern Munich: Gnabry is also 13/2 in the final scorer market and has flourished since moving back to his homeland.
Long shot: A showdown between Germany’s premier sides rarely disappoints given the talent on display and it promises to be another fascinating watch this weekend. A pulsating 2-2 outcome after 90 minutes is available at 11/1, while 3-3 can be found at 40/1.
