Last time: A late Erling Haaland equaliser secured a point for Borussia Dortmund with a 2-2 draw in the last encounter between those two teams back in February. Jadon Sancho had given BVB an early lead, while Munas Dabbur and Ihlas Bebou were on target for Hoffenheim.

Borussia Dortmund v Hoffenheim Predictions and Preview

Marco Rose has had a difficult start to life at Borussia Dortmund after he moved from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer. Despite earning a convincing 5-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga opener, as well as thrashing third-tier Wehen Wiesbaden 3-0 in the DFB-Pokal, BVB have now suffered two consecutive defeats.

Erling Haaland netted five goals in the first two games, but the Norwegian talent failed to score in both the 3-1 Super Cup defeat against Bayern Munich, as well as in the 2-1 loss to Freiburg last week.

The hosts must get back on track quickly unless they want to lose ground in the title race way too early, while a place in the top four must be earned as well. However, Rose’s men are unlikely to find it easy against Hoffenheim, as Dortmund have won just one of the last seven meetings against this opponent.

BVB have failed to win their last three home games against Hoffenheim and have been unconvincing recently, which makes Friday’s game a tricky task. However, the likes of Haaland and Marco Reus have been in fine form, so the hosts will fancy their chances against Sebastian Hoeness’s side.

Hoffenheim, meanwhile, had a tough start to the season, as they needed extra time to eliminate third-tier Vittoria Koln. Andrej Kramaric netted twice in that game, but the Croat is yet to find the back of the net in his first two Bundesliga matches.

Despite his lack of goals, Hoffenheim started with a resounding 4-0 win against Augsburg on the road, with Kramaric assisting three of those strikes. Sebastian Hoeness was fairly disappointed after the 2-2 draw in the second round at home against Bochum in the second round, but nevertheless seems to be adapting really well to Germany’s top tier, as his most notable previous experience was with Bayern Munich’s second team.

New signing Jacub Bruun Larsen started the season in fantastic fashion, scoring in both of Hoffenheim’s opening Bundesliga games. The Dane returned from his loan at Anderlecht in the summer and is showing some real promise in his first couple of games.

Despite their recent poor record against Hoffenheim, Borussia Dortmund are firm 4/9 favourites for the clash on Friday. The draw is priced at 19/5, while a victory for the visitors can be backed at 6/1 with William Hill.

One to watch for Borussia Dortmund: Erling Haaland started the season in a promising manner by scoring a brace in the 5-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in Dortmund’s Bundesliga opener. The Norwegian sensation is set for at least another year at the club and is the main favourite to open the scoring against Hoffenheim.

One to watch for Hoffenheim: Andrej Kramaric has scored a sensational five goals in his last two starts against Borussia Dortmund. The Croatian striker is yet to open his account for Hoffenheim this term, but he is always one to watch in the first scorer market, especially against BVB.

Long shot: Hoffenheim are undefeated in their last three visits to the Westfalenstadion. The last game ended in a 2-2 draw, with Haaland scoring a late equaliser for the hosts. Borussia Dortmund have started the season poorly and at 6/1 it might worth placing a bet on a Hoffenheim victory, while if you are looking for even bigger odds you can pair this with Bruun Larsen to score anytime.
