Brentford v Leicester Predictions and Preview

Things will be a little different between Brentford and Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup this year compared to last. For a start, there won’t be a fervent home support cheering on the Bees. If there was, it’d be a different arena entirely, with Brentford now playing their football at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The visiting Foxes will hope for the same outcome though, as Brendan Rodgers’ side bids to keep up the momentum which saw them rise to the top of the Premier League table on Tuesday night. Leicester outclassed big-spending Chelsea with a comfortable 2-0 victory at the King Power Stadium, their fourth straight win in all competitions.

The Premier League side come into this Brentford v Leicester preview unbeaten in seven, with their 2-0 defeat to Everton in mid-December their only loss in their last 11 fixtures. Leicester beat Stoke City 4-0 away from home in the third round of the FA Cup, and they are the 3/4 favourites to win this game with William Hill

Brentford are 15/4, as they bid to overturn last season’s exit. The Bees almost became a Premier League outfit themselves last term, falling at the final hurdle with a 2-1 extra-time defeat to Fulham. Thomas Frank’s side are right in the hunt for automatic promotion this time round, taking a 15-match unbeaten run into Wednesday’s clash with Luton Town.

Brentford put in a decent display in losing 2-0 to Tottenham in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup in early January. They’ll need to improve on that though if they’re going to stand a chance of being in the hat for the fifth round of the FA Cup. This tie will be settled one way or another. The game is 14/5 to go to extra-time with a draw after 90 minutes, with Leicester 2/5 to qualify and Brentford 21/10

One to watch for Brentford: Ivan Toney has filled Ollie Watkins’ shoes in style so far this season, netting 16 goals in his first 22 Championship appearances for the Bees following his summer move from Peterborough. He is 5/1 to open the scoring on Sunday.

One to watch for Leicester: Kelechi Iheanacho will hope for a start in this game. The Nigerian striker scored the only goal of the game against the Bees in the cup last year, and is 7/2 to break the deadlock in these Brentford v Leicester predictions.

Long shot: They say that lightning doesn’t strike twice. But in a week of stormy weather across the UK, you can back Iheanacho to score the only goal of the game away to Brentford in the fourth round of the FA Cup for a second year in a row at 38/1. A 1-0 Leicester victory is 15/2
