Cagliari v Inter Predictions and Preview
After a fine start to the 2019-20 campaign, Cagliari finished in a disappointing 14th. The Sardinians went on a 13-game unbeaten run from the middle of September to early December, beating Napoli and Atalanta, but slid down the table in the new year.
Rolando Maran ultimately failed to hold on to his job and his full-time successor Di Francesco will hope to avoid a similar fate. The former Roma and Sampdoria boss has a good group of players at his disposal with Alessio Cragno, Diego Godin, Nahitan Nández, Joao Pedro and Giovanni Simeone forming a quality spine throughout the eleven.
|Our Eurotips||Odds||Free bets||Bookie|
|Leonardo Pavoletti to score last||8/1||Offer|
|Inter to win 2-1||13/2||Offer|
|Over 3.5 goals||11/10||Offer|
Stopper Cragno has received international recognition under Roberto Mancini, while Godin was arguably the finest centre-half in Europe during his time with Atletico Madrid. The rugged defender will partner Sebastian Walukiewicz who has recently been linked to Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United after a string of impressive displays.
Joao Pedro will link up with Simeone in attack and has continued where he left off last term. The Brazilian hit 18 league goals and has six from his first nine this season. The Cagliari vice-captain is an attractive 9/1 to register first and Simeone can be found at 10/1. The hosts are 6/1 to claim victory and a share of the spoils is 17/4.
Travelling party Inter are unbeaten on the road. Antonio Conte’s men have collected 11 points from five rounds of action, largely thanks to the exploits of Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian hitman is 13/5 to break the deadlock and Martinez is available at 15/4. Arturo Vidal will support the duo and is 6/4 to notch anytime.
Nainggolan is unlikely to feature against the team he made his name for between 2010-14 but could return to Sardinia as early as next month if reports are accurate. Current employers Inter are 4/11 to emerge triumphant.
One to watch for Cagliari: Roma are the latest club to register their interest in Nández and Gli Isolani may struggle to hold on to the midfielder beyond the January window. The Punta del Este native is 13/5 to bag anytime.
One to watch for Inter: Achraf Hakimi has contributed three goals and two assists from 10 Serie A appearances and his output is all the more impressive considering his position. The wing-back is 11/1 to net last.
Long shot: Cagliari have yet to keep a clean sheet and this unwelcome statistic may be extended by a further 90 minutes against the division’s top scorers. Despite their backline issues, Gli Isolani are dangerous going forward, and have the quality to hurt any opponent. An entertaining 2-2 outcome is 18/1.
