Chelsea v Porto Predictions and Preview
The two legs of this tie Champions League quarter-final between Chelsea and Porto are both being played at Sevilla’s Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but the English club’s two away goals from the first game give them a huge advantage coming into this second leg.
The Blues bounced back from the disappointment of their first loss under Tuchel in real style. The 5-2 defeat to a struggling West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League was a huge surprise, but the German tactician couldn’t have asked for a better response.
Chelsea showed their defensive collapse against the Baggies was a mere blip in keeping their 13th clean sheet in 16 games under their new manager. Another strong display at the back on Tuesday will see the Blues safely book a place in the semi-finals, for the first time since 2014.

Chelsea to win to nil
Chelsea to win 2-0
Chelsea to win both halves
Porto, meanwhile, are bidding to get to the semis for the first time since winning the Champions League in 2004, but they face a very difficult task now. Whoever gets through, Real Madrid or Liverpool will be waiting in the last four.
The winner of this game will be the underdogs for that, but Chelsea are the huge favourites to secure another victory in this second leg. The Blues may have only had half of Porto’s attempts on goal, but they created the same number of clear-cut chances and they are 10/11 for the win in these Chelsea v Porto predictions.
Tuchel’s side enjoyed 60% possession in the first game, while their pass completion rate of 85% was superior to Porto’s 79%. Chelsea’s defensive improvement was shown by their 69% tackle success rate, with the Dragons only managing 47%.
Porto have recovered from a poor spell in the league to put together a strong run of wins, but Sergio Conceicao’s side still have a significant gap to league leaders Sporting Lisbon. Defeat in this game could see their season quickly unravel, although efforts could be concentrated back on their Primeira Liga title defence.
The Azuis e Brancos will at least welcome Mehdi Taremi and Sergio Oliveira back from suspension for this game, but they are still the 19/5 underdogs for the win, with the draw sending Chelsea through and priced at 59/20. Porto are out at 12/1 to qualify, while there’s little value on Chelsea at 1/25 for the same bet.
One to watch for Chelsea: Mason Mount scored a delightful goal to break the deadlock in the first leg. A key man for club and country, the England international is playing some lovely football at present and could prove excellent value at 15/2 to open the scoring once again on Tuesday.
One to watch for Porto: Top scorer Sergio Oliveira is available again for the Dragons, after suspension kept him out of the first leg. He has 19 goals so far this season in all competitions, with 11 of those coming from the penalty spot, and he is well worth a look in the anytime scorer market.
Long shot: Fancy lightning to strike twice, or indeed thrice? Chelsea beat Porto 2-0 last week, while that was also the scoreline the time these clubs met before that, in a group stage fixture at Stamford Bridge in 2015. The Blues are 17/2 to make it three 2-0 victories in row in these Chelsea v Porto tips, rising to 29/1 if you include Mount as the opening scorer once again.
