Barcelona travel south to Elche on Sunday, looking to continue a fine run of form that has seen Xavi’s side win four of the last five and continue an unbeaten run that began before Christmas. Elche will be hoping to bounce back from a poor defeat to Levante.

Elche vs. Barcelona Predictions and Preview
Barcelona has been a club transformed since Xavi took over coaching duties and he will be hoping for another victory here to keep up the pressure on the top teams. From being counted out of the Champions League race, pushing Real Betis for third – things have changed a lot at the Camp Nou.
The embarrassment of being knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage was tempered slightly by the victory over Napoli – and the 4-0 thrashing of Athletic in the most recent La Liga fixture was a much improved effort on what had come before this season.
Elche had enjoyed their own boost after the appointment of Francisco in November and had started 2022 well to climb the table. But two defeats in the last three games has been a disappointment. The 3-0 reverse to bottom of the table Levante was a huge blow and defeat here could see the club drop down the table.
Elche vs. Barcelona full time result odds
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has now scored four goals in his first four games for Barcelona and is obviously enjoying a new lease of life in Catalunya. Even Ousmane Dembélé has won back the fans and he will be hoping to feature again on Sunday.
Gerard Gumbau will be absent for the hosts after being sent off in the loss to Levante. But expect Francisco to employ defensive tactics to frustrate Barcelona here.
Elche vs. Barcelona both teams to score odds
Barcelona has completely dominated fixtures between these two in the past and it was something of a surprise for Elche to record one, let alone two, goals in the game at the Camp Nou in December. A lot has changed at the club since then as well and it would seem more likely that we will see the Barcelona of old on Sunday, making it very difficult for the home side to score.
Elche vs. Barcelona correct score odds
After scoring four goals in three of the last four La Liga games – and in the second leg away at Napoli – Barcelona will be confident of finding the net on a regular basis against Elche as well. Elche will be doing everything they can to keep Xavi’s men out, but odds of 13/2 look interesting for a 2-0 Barca win. That result allows Elche to defend well without having any real hope of winning.
Elche vs. Barcelona first goalscorer odds
With Aubameyang, Torres and Adama all being given a chance to start in recent games by Xavi, picking one of those to open the scoring on Sunday would seem to be a good way to go. There are other options, of course. But of those three it is Aubameyang that is enjoying life at the moment – and he could well to his already impressive goal collection against Elche.
