Fiorentina vs. Inter Predictions and Preview
Fiorentina come in to the contest in good form, dispatching SPAL 4-1 in their previous match. The Viola have one of the division’s – and Italy’s best talents in Federico Chiesa and the youngster continues to run rampant down the right flank.
The left footer has been a revelation since the turn of the year and has linked up well with winter signing Luis Muriel. Muriel, who plied his trade at Udinese and Sampdoria before departing for Sevilla, has recently featured in place of Giovanni Simeone though the duo can co-exist with Muriel moving out to the left side of attack.
Visitors Inter sit in third and have seen their ample lead over the chasing pack whittled down since December. Aside from the uncertainty surrounding his own future, Luciano Spalletti has had to make do without the services of star man Icardi. The Argentine has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent weeks and was stripped of the captaincy as a result.
Icardi refused to play in the Europa League clash against Rapid Vienna and it remains unknown whether the South American will make himself available for the duel with Fiorentina. Lautaro Martínez deputised against Sampdoria and the Austrians and is expected to be given another start and the striker is 7/1 to bag the opening goal of the match. Inter are 29/20 to record a morale boosting win for all connected with the club.
One to watch for Fiorentina: Marco Benassi is the Tuscan outfit’s top scorer in all competitions and will have licence to get forward from midfield. The former Torino man is 5/1 to score anytime during the 90.
One to watch for Inter: Radja Nainggolan netted the winner against Sampdoria in the closing stages and will hope the clincher will be an upturn in his fortunes at the club. The Belgian is 10/1 to replicate his heroics with another decider.
Long shot: Fiorentina are a match for anyone on home soil and the 7-1 drubbing of Roma in the Coppa Italia should serve as a warning to a disjointed and out of sorts Inter. A 3-1 win for Stefano Pioli’s squad is 25/1.
