Fiorentina v Juventus Predictions and Preview
Fiorentina have yet to register their first points of the campaign but there will be no cause for concern for Vincenzo Montella. The Italian tactician has welcomed Pedro, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Rachid Ghezzal, Dalbert and a host of others to Tuscany this summer, all while keeping prize asset Federico Chiesa.
The talented wideman’s future has been the subject of intense speculation, and the 21-year-old has long been admired by this weekend’s opponents Juventus. Chiesa will line up on the right flank and is priced at 11/2 to open proceedings.
On the other wing will be Franck Ribery, the star signing of patron Rocco Commisso’s new leadership. The billionaire acquired Fiorentina in June 2019 and has big plans for the Tuscan outfit. Ribery may be coming to the end of his storied career, but the Frenchman still has plenty to offer and will wow the natives with his direct approach.
Visitors Juventus got the better of Napoli in the previous gameweek. The Bianconeri came out on top in a seven-goal thriller in a real advertisement for the Italian game.
Boss Maurizio Sarri raised eyebrows with his decision to start Gonzalo Higuain and the Argentine repaid his coach’s faith with a sublime turn and finish against the Partenopei. Higuain is 10/3 to bag first with strike partner Cristiano Ronaldo 5/2 in the same market. The travelling squad are 7/10 to get the better of Fiorentina on the day.
One to watch for Fiorentina: Boateng is now playing as an out-and-out centre-forward and has started well in his new surroundings. The mercurial Ghanaian is 18/5 to strike anytime.
One to watch for Juventus: Douglas Costa got the nod over Federico Bernardeschi and Paulo Dybala in the triumph over Napoli and is 23/5 to hit the final goal of the contest.
Long shot: It was a baptism of fire for highly-rated Matthijs de Ligt on his debut against Napoli and the former Ajax skipper will need a period of adaptation. Juventus will be without legendary skipper Giorgio Chiellini for the next six months and are unquestionably weaker as result. This, coupled with a new and confident Fiorentina, and an enjoyable 2-2 final outcome is 14/1.
