Cesare Prandelli’s talented but inconsistent Fiorentina host second place Milan in weekend Serie A action. The Viola are four points behind Udinese who sit in tenth and it has been another frustrating year for the Tuscan outfit who have the quality to be European dark horses. Elsewhere, Stefano Pioli’s troops lost to Napoli in their last league fixture.

Fiorentina v Milan Predictions and Preview
The Viola’s substitutes bench included Gaetano Castrovilli, Cristiano Biraghi, Christian Kouame, Jose Callejon and Borja Valero for the trip to Benevento and Prandelli is the latest in a long line of managers to try and get the best out of a club which has underwhelmed on and off for the best part of a decade.
Castrovilli has been earmarked as a future captain, while Biraghi has featured heavily since Roberto Mancini’s appointment as Italy coach. Jose Callejon has struggled for minutes since his arrival, but is still a class act and is a fine option to have after the break.

Prandelli has settled on Franck Ribery and Dusan Vlahovic as his starting attackers and the young Serbian has shone under the Italian’s tutelage. The Belgrade native struggled under predecessor Beppe Iachini but has 12 goals and one assist to his name, including a hat-trick in Campania, and his stunning form has not gone unnoticed.
The Rossoneri and Roma are searching for long-term replacements for Edin Dzeko and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, respectively, and the burly hitman fits the bill. Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping a watchful eye and Vlahovic is very much in the mould of a Jose Mourinho striker.
The Fiorentina ace is 13/2 to open proceedings, while colleague Ribery can be found at 10/1. Castrovilli and former Milan midfielder Jack Bonaventura will link up in the middle of the park and both are 5/1 to register anytime. Reported Manchester United and Inter target Nikola Milenkovic will be tasked with keeping Ibrahimovic at bay and a home victory is 5/2.
Opponents Milan are now nervously looking over their shoulder. The Rossoneri were genuine title contenders but have lost their way and only hold a six-point advantage over Napoli who are fifth and have a game in hand.
Ibrahimovic is 3/1 to break the deadlock and the Swede will be supported by Hakan Calhanoglu, Rafael Leao, Alexis Saelemaekers and Theo Hernandez, with Ante Rebic serving suspension. Calhanoglu is 12/5 to bag anytime and the Rossoneri are 11/10 to emerge triumphant. A share of the spoils is 23/10.
One to watch for Fiorentina: Kouame has endured a torrid time with injuries but will be hoping Prandelli can have a similar impact on his career as he has done with Vlahovic. The ex-Genoa speedster is 12/1 to notch last.
One to watch for Milan: Hernandez has outscored Calhanoglu, Brahim Diaz, Samu Castillejo, Saelemaekers and Brahim Diaz and the flying full-back is 15/4 to score anytime.
Long shot: Fiorentina stunned Juventus before the turn of the year and the 3-0 defeat flattered the champions. The Viola dominated from start to finish and anything close to the performance level in December and Milan will be on the receiving end of something similar. A 3-1 success is 37/1.
