Fiorentina vs. Roma Serie A Betting Tips and Preview

Fiorentina Artemioa Franchi

Fiorentina seek a first Serie A win in four matches when Roma visit Tuscany this weekend. Stefano Pioli’s men sit above the Lupi by virtue of goal difference, with both outfits accumulating four wins, three draws and three defeats from their opening ten fixtures. There is plenty to play for and a victory for either side could result in a top four place, albeit temporarily.

Fiorentina vs. Roma Predictions and Preview

Sixth place Fiorentina were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Torino in the previous gameweek. Star striker Simeone was the glaring omission from the teamsheet as Kevin Mirallas stepped in for the young Argentine. Pioli is likely to recall the son of Diego who has a good record against the Romans. Simeone is 9/2 to open the scoring as he looks to get back on the goalscoring trail. Fellow forward Federico Chiesa is another obvious choice to make his mark.

The 21-year-old is reportedly on the radar of a host of clubs, both domestically and on the continent and is already one of Fiorentina’s key men. Chiesa is 15/2 to register last and his battle with marauding full-back Aleksandar Kolarov could have a huge bearing on the clash. Fiorentina are 17/10 to take the spoils while the draw is 5/2.

Visitors Roma come in to the showdown after narrowly missing out on maximum points during the trip to Naples. Eusebio Di Francesco’s troops took an early lead through Stephan El Shaarawy before Dries Mertens’ stoppage time equaliser. In truth, a draw was a fair result as Roma struggled to assert themselves in the second-half.

The Lupi will line up with Edin Dzeko, Cengiz Under and El Shaarawy in attack with the trio all in good form. Dzeko is 5/1 to bag first and Under is not far behind at 15/2. The Giallorossi are 6/4 to have a successful away day.

One to watch for Fiorentina: Marko Pjaca will take his place on the left flank and is a real talent despite his injury troubles over the last 24 months. The Croatian is 16/5 to net anytime.

One to watch for Roma: El Shaarawy is Roma’s top scorer domestically with three strikes and has risen to the challenge of newcomers Justin Kluivert, Ante Coric and Nicolo Zaniolo who were all part of a mass summer spending spree. The wide man is 9/4 in the same market.

Long shot: Fiorentina have not kept a clean sheet since the end of September, but are formidable on home soil, picking up maximum points from four of their five duels so far. The Viola have netted 16 times in contrast to Roma’s haul of 17 and it should be a good contest between two clubs who play on the front foot. A 3-3 draw is available at 57/1.
