A 5-1 victory in the first leg against Galatasaray saw PSV all but secure their qualification in the next round of the Champions League qualifiers. The Dutch giants still need to do the job when they travel to Istanbul, but that shouldn’t be too hard against a disheartened and error-prone Galatasaray side.

Galatasaray v PSV Predictions and Preview
Everybody expected a close affair when PSV and Galatasaray were drawn together in the second round of the Champions League qualifiers. However, the reality of the first leg turned out to be completely different as the Dutch side cruised past the Turkish giants and secured a resounding 5-1 victory at the Philips Stadium.
It took just over a minute for Eran Zahavi to open the score for the home side after a terrible error by Fernando Muslera, who had one of his worst games in a Galatasaray jersey between the sticks. Zahavi ended up with a hat-trick, while Mario Gotze reminded of his best days by netting a brace.
Emre Kilinc scored the only goal for Galatasaray, which gives them slim hope for the return leg, but things aren’t looking good. Fatih Terim’s struggled to cope with PSV’s intensity in the first leg and looked all over the place, making a number of mistakes when trying to play out from the back.
History is also not in Galatasaray’s favor, as the Turkish giants have lost five of their six clashes against PSV. The Yellow-Reds’ sole victory in this rivalry was more than 20 years ago when Cimbom defeated PSV by 2-0 in Istanbul. However, even a repeat of that scenario wouldn’t be enough for the Turks to go through and PSV’s qualification to the next round seems almost certain.

PSV to win 3-1
PSV to win and over 2.5 goals
Both sides finished second in their leagues last season and ended the campaign in a good run of form. Galatasaray won their last six matches in a row to catch up Besiktas at the top of the Super Lig table, but the 22-time champions narrowly lost out on their head-to-head record against their local rivals.
On the other hand, PSV ended the season on a seven-games unbeaten streak, but it was a little too late, as Ajax were already too far ahead. The Dutch side won three and drew one in their friendly games, while Galatasaray won both of their friendlies.
The defense remains Fatih Terim’s main concern, as Galatasaray have failed to keep a clean sheet in six consecutive games. The Turkish giants have undoubted quality up front with the likes of Radamel Falcao and Arda Turan, but it’s hard to imagine that they’ll be able to keep things tight at the back and overcome the four goal deficit from the first leg.
The chances for a victory within 90 minutes for both Galatasaray and PSV are priced at 6/4, while the draw is rated at 12/5. Both teams to score is also a tempting option, considering both teams attacking talents and you can place a bet at 8/15. Since everything points to a high-scoring affair, you can also back up Over 3.5 goals at 13/8.
One to watch for Galatasaray: Radamel Falcao failed to make any impact in the first game between those teams, as Galatasaray were outplayed and struggled to cope with PSV’s pressing. However, the Turkish giants are expected to be much more aggressive in this return leg, so look out for Falcao.
One to watch for PSV Eindhoven: Eran Zahavi’s hat-trick in the first leg means that it’s impossible to look beyond him as PSV’s player to watch. The 33-year-old forward broke the deadlock at the Philips Stadium, so you can back him up to do the same in the return leg.
Long shot: PSV have scored at least two goals in five of their six games against Galatasaray. The Dutch side won their last visit against Cimbom by 3-1, so you can backup a repeat of that result at 18/1. If you are looking for even bigger odds, you can pair this bet with Zahavi to score at anytime.
