Genoa vs. Juventus Tips, Preview and Predictions

Genoa and Juventus club crests

After the drama of the Derby della Lanterna defeat to bitter rivals Sampdoria last weekend, Genoa must attempt to raise themselves to face Juventus. Relegation fears are becoming very real at the Marassi now and nothing but a victory over the Old Lady will really do.

Last time: Juventus took all three points when these two met at the Allianz Stadium back in December – and Genoa have only won once in this fixture since 2016.

Genoa vs. Juventus Predictions and Preview

Somehow Genoa head coach Alexander Blessin has to raise his players after the despair of the defeat to neighbours Sampdoria at the weekend. With time already having run out, club legend Domenico Criscito had the chance to snatch a point from the local derby. But his penalty was saved and now there is a very real danger of the Grifone dropping down to Serie B for next season.

One hope the home side may have is that Juventus have now booked their Champions League place for next term. The potential embarrassment of missing out on a top four finish has disappeared and the pressure is now off the Bianconeri.

Both squads have long injury lists – but nothing new for the head coaches to deal with – so this could be a very interesting game. The visitors are the stronger side on paper but Genoa just have to get three points here.

Genoa vs. Juventus full time result odds

It is very tempting to back the home team here, in a game that means nothing to how Juventus will end the season. But Genoa have not scored enough goals this season – and it is difficult to believe that they will suddenly be able to turn things around against one of the strongest defences in Serie A. Juventus may not be at 100% for this one but the odds for an away win – 4/5 – still seem like the better option.

Genoa vs. Juventus both teams to score odds

No team in Serie A has scored as few goals as Genoa this season. They have managed only 25 in 35 league games – and only 12 at home. That doesn’t bode well for the remaining games of the campaign – or for this team to overcome Juventus on Friday. Juve have not been as prolific as some of their rivals at the top of the table but should find the net here. The bet against both teams to score at 17/20 looks the better value.

Genoa vs. Juventus correct score odds

This is the type of game that Juventus players may not be overly interested in chasing if things go badly early on. But the Bianconeri should be able to contain a poor Genoa side without too much trouble and possibly make things even worse by grabbing a goal as well. A 1-0 win to the visitors can be found at around 13/2 and that could well be the outcome at the Marassi on Friday.

Genoa vs. Juventus first goalscorer odds

It is hard to back a Genoa player to get the all-important first goal on Friday. But predicting who from the Juve side will find the net is just as difficult. Bonucci scored both goals in the win against Venezia at the weekend and defenders are just as likely to score as forwards in this team. But for the best value, Dušan Vlahović at 7/2 looks like the way to go.
