Granada v Atletico Madrid Predictions and Preview
Luis Suarez came off the bench to bag a brace on his Atletico Madrid debut the last time Diego Simeone’s side faced Granada. Now, the Uruguayan is the top scorer in La Liga and Atletico are in pole position to win the title for the first time since 2014.
However, Los Colchoneros did drop points on their last outing. Suarez netted another double at home to Celta Vigo, but the visitors scored a late equaliser to claim a point courtesy of a 2-2 draw. That result brought an end to Atleti’s eight-match winning run in La Liga, but Los Rojiblancos have still only lost once in 20 league games all season.
The opposing Rojiblancos this weekend have lost eight times in 22 matches, winning the same number. Granada lie eighth in the table heading into this game, with the distinct possibility of being in the hunt for European football come the end of the season. Adding points to their tally on Sunday is going to be tough for Diego Martinez’s side though.

Atletico Madrid to win to nil
Atletico Madrid to win 3-0
Atletico Madrid to win and over 2.5 goals
El Grana may be unbeaten in four league games, but three of those were draws and the other was a 3-1 defeat to Osasuna. The Nazaries have only won one of their last seven La Liga fixtures, while their head-to-head record against Atletico makes for even grimmer reading for the hosts this weekend.
The away team come into this Granada v Atletico Madrid preview unbeaten in 15 games against the Matagigantes, since the Andalusian outfit were promoted to La Liga in 2011. Atleti have won 12 of those fixtures, scoring 33 goals and conceding just three in the process. The league leaders have only let in 12 goals in 20 games this term, at an average of 0.6 per game.
Despite those dropped points last time out, Diego Simeone’s side still hold a five-point lead over local rivals Real Madrid at the top of the table. Atletico also have two games in hand, and they are the 5/6 favourites with William Hill to make an immediate return to winning ways on Saturday. Granada don’t look like very good value at 9/2, with the draw at 12/5 surely the most the home team can hope for.
One to watch for Granada: He may not be the La Liga top scorer, but El Grana have a Luis Suarez of their own. Their Columbian forward is Granada’s joint-top scorer with five league goals to his name so far, and 9/1 to add to his tally by opening the scoring this weekend.
One to watch for Atletico Madrid: Atleti’s Suarez is the 10/3 favourite to break the deadlock on Saturday afternoon. He bagged a brace in the reverse fixture, and comes into these Granada v Atletico Madrid predictions with 16 goals in 17 La Liga appearances for the visitors.
Long shot: Atletico are available at 250/1 to repeat their 6-1 victory over Granada from earlier in the campaign. A 3-0 win may be more likely at 15/1, rising to 64/1 if you include Atleti’s Suarez as the opening goalscorer. The odds on Suarez to score first in a 6-1 Atletico victory are an eye-popping 1,003/1.
