Hamilton Academical v Rangers Predictions and Preview
The hosts finally got a win on the board in the previous gameweek against Motherwell. Brian Rice’s men are the bookmaker’s favourites for the drop but the Scot took heart from his side’s valiant showing.
Hamilton will line up in a 4-4-2 with David Templeton and Marios Ogkmpoe upfront. Former Gers ace Templeton is the talisman in the ranks and is finally back to full fitness. The versatile forward 17/2 to open proceedings and the Accies are 20/1 to claim victory. A draw is 7/1.
Visitors Rangers beat Kilmarnock 2-0 last weekend. Steven Gerrard made a brave call and not only dropped star striker Alfredo Morelos from the eleven, but the matchday squad altogether. The hitman has been out of sorts since his transfer to Lille broke down and will not return to the first-team picture until his future has been resolved.
Kemar Roofe led the attack and his arrival has given Gerrard fresh options. The Liverpudlian only had Morelos and Jermain Defoe to choose from last year but Roofe and Cedric Itten will ease the dependency on the popular, yet divisive Colombian.

Roofe has enjoyed a decent scoring record at each of Anderlecht, Leeds United and Oxford United and a 20-goal haul should be the target. The Walsall native is 10/3 to break the deadlock and his partnership with Itten is showing good promise.
Top scorer Ryan Kent has three efforts to his name from five appearances. The midfielder was the subject of a £10m bid from Premier League new boys Leeds but has reportedly committed his future to the Light Blues.
One to watch for Hamilton: Ogkmpoe will relish the physical battle with Light Blues stoppers Borna Barisic and Connor Goldson and is a handful. The Greek attacker, who scored home and away against Celtic last term, is 14/1 to register last.
One to watch for Rangers: The Light Blues are a huge threat from set pieces and have three 6ft plus defenders in the team. Filip Helander is 28/1 in the same betting.
Long shot: Gers face sterner tests ahead and will be expected to make light work of the Accies if they are to end Celtic’s domestic dominance. The travelling party struggled to break down the clubs in the bottom-half of the table in the 2019-20 season but have recruited well and should have little issue on Saturday. A resounding 4-0 result is 17/2.
