Inter v Bayer Leverkusen Predictions and Preview
Inter came through unscathed against Getafe in the last round. The Nerazzurri advanced courtesy of Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen and, alongside Manchester United, are the favourites to make the showpiece event in Cologne.
Conte has a fully fit squad at his disposal and the battle for places in the starting eleven has given the Italian a welcome selection dilemma. Stefano Sensi is back in contention after a difficult few months on the sidelines. The diminutive loanee from Sassuolo was Inter’s standout player before suffering from thigh and hamstring injuries and will slot back in to the team after building up match fitness.

Ashley Young and Antonio Candreva will start in the wide areas and have not let Conte down. The former Red Devils captain is enjoying a new lease of life since moving last winter and has contributed four goals and four assists from just 18 appearances. The 35-year-old is 3/1 to net anytime, while Candreva is 10/3 in the same market.
Top scorer Lukaku is 7/2 favourite to open proceedings as he bids to crown his debut season at Inter with silverware. Partner Lautaro Martinez is 5/1 to bag first and is still at the centre of a tug of war between Manchester City and Barcelona.
Bayer Leverkusen will be led on the field by Kai Havertz. The youngster has been likened to compatriot Michael Ballack and is a special talent. The 21-year-old is expected to complete a £90m move to English giants Chelsea once his current employers’ participation in the Europa League comes to a conclusion and the German ace is 6/1 to break the deadlock and add to his 15-goal tally. Leverkusen are 11/5 to come through in normal time and 6/5 to reach the semi-final.
One to watch for Inter: Eriksen has struggled to impress Conte but did his chances no harm with the clincher in the last 16 tie with Los Azulones. The ex-Spurs man is 9/1 to register the final effort.
One to watch for Bayer Leverkusen: Kevin Volland will lead a youthful attack and his performances has caught the eye of national boss Jogi Low. The Marktoberdorf native is 12/5 to score anytime.
Long shot: Bayer are not to be underestimated. Peter Bosz achieved a top four finish, largely with a group of fledgling youngsters and the 2-1 triumph over Bayern, in Munich, should act as a warning for Conte’s troops. A tensely fought contest and 3-2 outcome in favour of the Germans is 33/1.
