Inter v Juventus Predictions and Preview
Inter go in search of a seventh straight league win in the 2019-20 campaign but face their toughest challenge yet against the Scudetto holders. The Nerazzurri have been predictably strong defensively with Diego Godin, Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij operating in a back three.
Despite his advancing years, Godin remains one of the finest centre-halves on the continent, while Skriniar has his admirers across Europe. De Vrij completes the backline and while he does not receive the same praise as his colleagues, he has proven his worth as a vital member of Samir Handanovic’s rearguard.
Stefano Sensi returned to the side in the 3-1 away win at Sampdoria after being rested against Lazio in the previous encounter. The midfielder opened the scoring and has been a revelation since moving from Sassuolo in July.
Juventus come in to the clash fresh from a comfortable win in Europe. The Bianconeri thumped Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 and Maurizio Sarri has a welcome selection dilemma on his hands. Gonzalo Higuain was outstanding, scoring one and making another and will almost certainly get the nod ahead of compatriot Paulo Dybala.
Higuain is attractively priced at 12/2 to register the first goal of the duel and Ronaldo is 10/3 in the same market. The Bianconeri are 9/5 to claim all three points and move to the top of the table in the process.
One to watch for Inter: Romelu Lukaku will come up against the side who desperately tried to sign him in the summer and is 5/1 to bag the first goal.
One to watch for Juventus: Dybala has yet to open his account for the term but will get a chance to get on the scoresheet after the break. The South American is 7/1 to strike last.
Long shot: Inter are riding high and Sunday’s encounter is likely to reveal the Nerazzurri’s credentials and intentions for the season ahead. The home squad have only conceded two goals from six matches and can lay down a real marker with a commanding performance and victory against the Bianconeri. A 3-1 success in favour of the league leaders is 25/1.
