Inter v Juventus Predictions and Preview
First meets fifth and something has to give in this blockbuster battle between two of Italy’s biggest clubs.
Hosts Inter are in reasonable form, winning their last two matches, but really need something from Saturday night’s Derby d’Italia duel, particularly with Roma and Lazio ahead in the standings. Luciano Spalletti will task 26-goal Mauro Icardi to fire the home side to another victory and the skipper is 3/1 to open the scoring. With Giorgio Chiellini out with a muscle tear the Argentine should get plenty of opportunities to hit the back of the net and inflict further misery on the champions. Inter are 11/5 to record a 19th domestic success from 35 games.
For travelling party Juventus, an immediate response is needed. Max Allegri’s side need to prove their mettle and show why they have won the title for the last six consecutive seasons. The recent defeat was the Bianconeri’s first in over five months but there is no time to feel sorry for themselves and anything less than maximum points could spell the end for this legendary, but aging Juventus squad.
Despite the setback, Juventus are 11/8 favourites to win on the night and Gonzalo Higuain is 4/1 to open proceedings at a ground he fares well on. Compatriot Paulo Dybala is 4/2 to strike anytime during the encounter while Sami Khedira is also attractively priced at 7/1 in the same market.
The both teams to score predictions offer is 10/11 and is a near formality given the attacking talent on display.
One to watch for Inter: Ivan Perisic has 11 efforts to his name and tends to rise to the occasion in the bigger matches. The Croatian is 14/2 to hit the final goal.
One to watch for Juventus: Mario Mandzukic always gives his all and is one of Allegri’s go to men in must win contests. The burly hitman is 11/1 to net first.
Long shot: The warning signs have been there for a few weeks now, after basement club Benevento took a shock lead against Juventus and the draw against lowly Crotone. For Inter, there may not be a better time to capitalise on the Bianconeri’s mini wobble and a 3-1 triumph is available at 35/1.
