Defending champions Inter welcome current league leaders Napoli to San Siro in a mouthwatering clash on Serie A’s return after the international break. It’s a must-win game for the Nerazzurri, who are seven points behind the Partenopei, but Simone Inzaghi will have to cope without several key players.

Last time: Samir Handanovic’s own goal gave Napoli the lead, but Christian Eriksen’s strike was enough for Inter to draw 1-1 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona back in April in what was the last meeting between these teams.
Inter v Napoli Predictions and Preview
Inter vs Napoli will be a monstrous game for both sides, as the defending Serie A champions welcome the current leaders to San Siro. The Nerazzurri have won just two of their last five league games, so they need a win if they want to narrow the gap to the top.
Simone Inzaghi’s men have 25 points after 12 rounds, after they drew 1-1 against Milan in the Derby della Madonnina last time. The Nerazzurri drew by the same result against Juventus and won against Empoli and Udinese in between, while they were also beaten by Lazio in what was quite a turbulent month of October.
The problem for Inzaghi is that he might have to face arguably the best side since the start of the season without several key players, as Edin Dzeko, Stefan De Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni and Alexis Sanchez are all serious doubts. Either Federico Di Marco or Danilo D’Ambrosio should deputise at center-back if De Vrij and Bastoni are unavailable, while Joaquin Correa should pair up with Lautaro Martinez if Dzeko doesn’t make it.
Inter are yet to lose a Serie A game at San Siro this term, as the Nerazzurri have a remarkable 19 victories and only three draws from their last 22 home games in the league. The champions are undefeated in their last four meetings with Napoli and they won both of their games in Milan during that stretch.
The last time Napoli defeated Inter at San Siro was in the Coppa Italia in February last year, when a Fabian Ruiz strike was enough for the visitors to earn a 1-0 victory. However, the Partenopei have lost their last three away games against Inter in the league and their last Serie A win away to Inter was almost five years ago.
Nevertheless, Napoli have undoubtedly been the team to beat in the current Serie A campaign, as the Biancocelesti are still undefeated after winning 10 and drawing twice after 12 rounds. Adam Ounas is injured, while Diego Demme has Covid-19, but otherwise Luciano Spalletti has a full squad to chose from.
Despite all of their injury concerns, the Nerazzurri are 3/1 to get a huge three points on Sunday, while a win for Napoli is available at 9/4. However, considering the importance of the fixture and that these are two equally strong teams, the draw seems like the most logical choice and it can be backed at 12/5.
One to watch for Inter: Lautaro Martinez has failed to find the back of the net in seven consecutive games for Inter. However, with Edin Dzeko and Alexis Sanchez being serious doubts for Sunday, the Argentinian will have to step up and is 9/2 to open the scoring in these Inter v Napoli predictions.
One to watch for Napoli: Victor Osimhen’s five goals in 10 Serie A appearances don’t fully show just how impressive the Nigerian has been this term. Osimhen scored twice for his country while on international duty and is 5/1 to break the deadlock on Sunday evening.
Long shot: The last game between these teams ended 1-1 and although Inter won the last two clashes at San Siro, the Nerazzurri will be without several key players on Sunday. Therefore, at 11/2, another 1-1 draw might be on the cards, while the odds rise to 35/1 if you add Osimhen as the first scorer. However, if you are looking for even bigger odds you can also add Lautaro as the last scorer to the selection and raise the stakes to 229/1.
