Inter vs. Roma Predictions and Preview
Inter have hit form at just the right time, winning four of their last six games. This upturn in both results and performances has taken place while neighbours Milan have wobbled. The Nerazzurri currently hold third spot and can finally call upon the services of former skipper Mauro Icardi.
The Argentine’s self-imposed two month exile from the first team squad threatened to derail Inter’s season and objectives, and the hosts will be reliant on Icardi to get back to doing what he does best.
The reported Real Madrid summer target is 2/1 to open proceedings and will spearhead the attack with Ivan Perisic and Radja Nainggolan in support. The duo netted in the 3-1 win over Frosinone and can be found at 5/2 and 9/4 respectively, in the anytime scorer market. Inter are 4/5 to clinch the points and 13/5 to earn a draw.
Travelling party Roma have improved over the last fortnight, notably defensively. The Giallorossi kept back-to-back clean sheets against Udinese and Sampdoria and chalked up six points courtesy of winners from veterans Daniele De Rossi and Edin Dzeko.
Dzeko is a popular option in the first scorer stakes at 3/1 and his battle with Milan Skriniar will go a long way to determining the outcome of this tie. Nicolo Zaniolo should feature against the club who let him go last summer and is 11/2 to net last. The Giallorossi are 17/5 to emerge triumphant and 13/2 to win to nil.
One to watch for Inter: Lautaro Martínez deputised admirably for Icardi and will almost certainly feature at some stage. The South American is 5/2 to strike anytime during the encounter.
One to watch for Roma: Stephan El Shaarawy has 12 goal involvements from 22 appearances and will take his place on the left flank. The Italian international is 6/1 in the final scorer betting and has enjoyed a fine season.
Long shot: Roma have scored seven more goals than Inter, but have shipped nearly double the number of their opponents at the other end. The Giallorossi’s new found defensive stability will be put to the test, but if they can get to the half-hour mark intact, will grow in stature. A 1-0 victory for the visitors is 14/1.
