Inter v Sassuolo Predictions and Preview
The Nerazzurri last featured in a domestic fixture on February 16, and their trip to the capital was not one to remember as Simone Inzaghi’s troops deservedly took the spoils on the night. Conte has since cut a frustrated figure, not helped by a number of postponements and Inter will be relishing the opportunity to get back to winning ways.
Martinez and Lukaku will lead the line in what could be the South American’s final season with the Milan giants. The diminutive forward has no shortage of suitors but Barcelona appear to be leading the way with a reported €70m bid + players in the offing.
There were already suggestions Christian Eriksen was bought with a view to lining up behind Lukaku next year and Martinez will struggle to turn down the advances of the Catalans, particularly after Lionel Messi’s latest charm offensive.
Nevertheless, the Nerazzurri number 10, who has 17 goal contributions to his name, knows he has a job to do for his existing employers and is 7/2 to open proceedings, while his Belgian partner is 5/2 in the same market. The hosts are 2/7 to emerge triumphant.
Travelling party Sassuolo are in mid-table, not quite safe but, equally, only a couple of back-to-back victories away from climbing in to the top half.
In Boga, Berardi and Francesco Caputo, the Neroverdi will certainly pose an attacking threat with Caputo posting a very credible 11 strikes and four assists this term. The ex-Empoli ace is 12/5 to net anytime and Sassuolo are 17/2 to pull of a shock result. The draw is 9/2.
One to watch for Inter: Ashley Young has settled in well since moving from Manchester United and hit his maiden goal for the club in the 2-1 loss with Lazio. The Englishman is 8/1 to bag anytime.
One to watch for Sassuolo: Berardi, a one-time Nerazzurri target, is one shy of double figures for the campaign and also has five assists from his 19 league appearances. The talented left footer is 11/1 to score last.
Long shot: Sassuolo have only kept one clean sheet this calendar year. In contrast, Inter last failed to score in early-December and arguably boast the best strike partnership in Italy’s top flight. An entertaining 3-1 triumph for the title challengers is 10/1.
