Inter vs. Udinese Predictions and Preview
Juventus were at their ruthless best during the Derby d’Italia, with Mario Mandzukic ultimately settling proceedings for the champions. The title holders didn’t have as many chances as Inter but were clinical, teaching a lesson to Luciano Spalletti’s men who blew multiple golden opportunities to emerge victorious. Roberto Gagliardini was the first to go close as his effort struck the post, before Matteo Politano, Keita Balde and Ivan Perisic fluffed their lines.
With Max Allegri’s squad out on their own, it has widely been perceived Inter will battle it out with Napoli for the runners-up berth but the Azzurri have a substantial advantage of their own and the Milan giants could soon lose track of the Neapolitans if they don’t string some results together.
Talisman Icardi is the 3/1 favourite to strike first and the Argentine has a good record against the Zebrette. With Politano and Perisic providing a constant threat from the wide areas, few would back against the Inter skipper to have a fruitful 90 minutes against a weary backline. The Nerazzurri are 2/5 to chalk up the victory and 6/5 to bag in both halves.
Travelling party Udinese’s mini revival came to an abrupt end in the 3-1 loss away at Sampdoria. Boss Davide Nicola, who has only been in charge for three games, had picked up four points from his first two outings with the memorable triumph against Roma the standout performance in an underwhelming season to date. Udinese are priced at 9/1 to pull off another shock result which would be a welcome bonus ahead of two winnable duels against Frosinone and SPAL.
One to watch for Inter: Lautaro Martinez is likely to get a good half hour if the Nerazzurri are comfortably ahead after the break and the forward is a viable 5/1 to get the final effort of the showdown.
One to watch for Udinese: Rodrigo de Paul has a very credible nine goal involvements from 15 appearances and will play in the pocket behind Kevin Lasagna. The South American is 18/3 to net first.
Long shot: At this stage last term Inter were top of the standings, two points ahead of defending champions Juventus and riding high. Fast forward 12 months and while Spalletti’s troops are in the Champions League places, these are the matches they need to win to keep ticking over. A 4-0 thrashing is 14/1.
