Inter v Verona Predictions and Preview
Inter came away from Emilia-Romagna with three valuable points to keep the pressure on leaders Juventus. The Nerazzurri beat Bologna 2-1, thanks to a Romelu Lukaku brace and the former Manchester United striker only trails Ciro Immobile in the goalscorer standings.
Lukaku has an impressive 9 goals from 11 appearances and has formed a deadly partnership with Lautaro Martinez. The duo account for nearly 60% of Inter’s goal total domestically, and Antonio Conte will need both men to stay fit to push the Bianconeri all the way in the race for the title.
The diminutive playmaker has been on the sidelines for four weeks and he will link up with compatriot Nicolò Barella in the middle of the park. Sensi is 4/1 to net anytime, and the home side are 3/10 to claim the spoils. The draw is 17/4.
Visitors Verona have won their last two matches and have a nice blend of youth and experience in the squad. Former Inter attacker Giampaolo Pazzini is the club captain, while Darko Lazović, Veloso and Mariusz Stępiński have all plied their trade in Italy in recent years.
Eddie Salcedo, on loan from Inter, struck in the 2-1 triumph against Brescia in the previous gameweek but will sit out the tie against his parent club. Stępiński is likely to come in and is 15/4 to score anytime and the Gialloblu are 17/2 to pick up a shock win. The draw is 17/4.
One to watch for Inter: Roberto Gagliardini deputised in Sensi’s absence and will get some minutes after the break. The 25-year-old is 14/1 to bag the final goal of the contest.
One to watch for Verona: Matteo Pessina came off the bench to hit the winner against Brescia and is 20/1 to repeat his exploits this weekend. The Atalanta owned midfielder is the Gialloblu’s joint top goalscorer alongside Veloso.
Long shot: Remarkably, it is Verona, alongside Juventus, who possess the best defensive record in the division, conceding just nine goals to date. However, the Gialloblu have only scored the same number, and the over-reliance on the defence over a 38 game season is not sustainable. A 3-1 victory for the Nerazzurri is 10/1.
