Last time: These clubs haven’t crossed paths since the Champions League group stages in 2012, with Juve easing to a 3-0 victory on home soil following a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Juventus v Chelsea Predictions and Preview

This ought to be a clash of the titans. However, Juventus are far from their towering best right now. Max Allegri’s return to the Allianz Stadium has not turned out as planned so far, but this is a wonderful opportunity for the Bianconeri coach to ignite his reign against European champions Chelsea.

The Blues have looked brilliant in the opening weeks of the new campaign, top of the Premier League heading into their home game against Manchester City at the weekend. Thomas Tuchel seems to have improved his team even more over the summer, with Chelsea unbeaten after five games following four wins and a draw.

The west London outfit also won their Champions League opener, beating Zenit Saint Petersburg 1-0 at Stamford Bridge to make the perfect start to their title defence. Juventus were also victorious on matchday one, as they swatted aside Swedish minnows Malmo 3-0 away from home.

The going has been far tougher domestically for the Old Lady. Allegri’s return has been anything but triumphant, with Juve in the bottom half of the Serie A table after their first five matches. They did at least finally win their first league game of the season on their last midweek outing, showing some encouraging determination to beat Spezia 3-2 from behind away from home.

The Italians will need much more than desire to beat Chelsea. The Blues are looking more and more like the complete package, and the visitors are the 23/20 favourites for the win in this Juventus v Chelsea preview. The hosts are 11/4, while you can back the draw on Wednesday at 5/2

Allegri does at least have a relatively clean bill of health as he attempts to get his players on the right track. Juve could only be missing Arthur and Kaio Jorge for this game, although the Brazilian duo are both nearly ready to play following muscle injuries. For Chelsea, there are question marks over Timo Werner, Edouard Mendy and Christian Pulisic, but all three could be fit for this trip to Turin.

One to watch for Juventus: Federico Chiesa is looking more and more like Juve’s star man. He scored a crucial equaliser in the Old Lady’s maiden Serie A victory, and could prove excellent value at 9/1 for the first goal in these Juventus v Chelsea predictions.

One to watch for Chelsea: Romelu Lukaku was instrumental in dethroning Juve while playing for Inter last year, preventing the Bianconeri from winning the Scudetto for a 10th successive season. The Belgian has looked great back at Chelsea and is 4/1 to break the deadlock here.

Long shot: Two of the last three meetings between these clubs have finished 2-2, even if that run  stretches back to 2009. A repeat of that scoreline this week though is 16/1 with William Hill in these Juventus v Chelsea tips. With Lukaku scoring first, those odds rise to 74/1, while it’s 149/1 with Chiesa netting first.
