Juventus v Fiorentina Predictions and Preview
The champions will still be smarting from their loss at San Paolo, against the team that has consistently pushed them all the way in recent years. Napoli, led by Gennaro Gattuso, will be the first to admit they have underperformed this term and the triumph was a timely reminder of the ability in the ranks.
Sarri elected to go with his three first choice forwards from the opening whistle and the experiment is likely to be brought to an abrupt halt. Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain will vie to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s strike partner with both, to their credit, enjoying good personal campaigns.
Dybala has 12 goal contributions to his name, and can be found at 8/11 to net anytime, while his compatriot is 4/1 to strike first. Higuain has seven efforts and six assists to his name and may get the edge against a robust Fiorentina backline.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo is 2/1 to hit a brace and continue his stunning form through on goal. The Portuguese ace is six behind current Capocannoniere Ciro Immobile and has 13 from his last 11 appearances. The hosts are 1/3 to get back to winning ways.
Visitors Fiorentina are 13th and have endured another mixed year. The Viola are capable, and have beaten Napoli and Atalanta this month, but also struggled to get the better of rock bottom Genoa. Federico Chiesa and Patrick Cutrone will lead the attack and Chiesa will be one to watch.
One to watch for Juventus: Douglas Costa could come in at the expense of Dybala and was missed when out through injury. The speedster is 5/2 in the anytime scorer market.
One to watch for Fiorentina: Patrick Cutrone is back in Italy after a dismal spell in the Premier League and is 12/1 to register first. The striker will harbour ambitions of a place in Roberto Mancini’s EURO 2020 squad and knows a good showing can boost his hopes.
Long shot: Fiorentina have conceded a relatively modest 29 goals from 21 games and it has been at the other end of the pitch where Beppe Iachini’s men have struggled. The Viola tend to raise their game for the grudge clash with Juventus and a repeat of the scoreline in the reverse fixture is 15/1.
