Juventus vs. Parma Predictions and Preview
After a long period of adaptation, Juventus appear to have finally got to grips with Maurizio Sarri’s tactics and approach. The former Napoli and Chelsea boss has come under criticism from sections of the media, but the Bianconeri are in pole position and it is worth remembering his Blues side that went on to win last term’s Europa League also improved as the year went on.
Sarri will be buoyed by the form of star man Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese legend suffered a knee injury in November and was visibly hampered, but refused a spell on the sidelines and his game suffered as a result.
Since returning to full health, Ronaldo has hit 9 goals from the last six matches and will have one eye on chasing down leading scorer Ciro Immobile who has hit 20.
Ronaldo trails the Lazio marksman by six efforts and is 2/1 to register first and 13/8 to net two. Paulo Dybala started alongside the Bianconeri number seven during the recent 2-1 win in Rome and is 8/13 to strike anytime.
The South American has 11 goal contributions to date and is closing in on a new and improved contract with the title holders. Juventus are 2/9 to emerge triumphant.
After beating Lecce, Parma find themselves just one point adrift of the Europa League places. Dejan Kulusevski has enjoyed a breakthrough season for the Crociati, arriving on loan last summer from Atalanta to being snapped up by this weekend’s opponents Juventus in the winter window.
The young Swede will join his team-mates at the end of the current term and has four goals and seven assists from 18 appearances. In the meantime, the versatile midfielder is 6/1 to bag anytime and Parma are 14/1 to clinch victory. The draw is 11/2.
One to watch for Juventus: Aaron Ramsey operated behind Ronaldo and Dybala at Stadio Olimpico and is expected to get a regular run in his favoured role. The Welshman is 6/1 to score first.
One to watch for Parma: Andreas Cornelius is the Crociati’s top scorer, despite featuring heavily from the subs bench. The Dane is an attractive 11/1 to hit the final goal of the contest.
Long shot: Each of the three meetings contested since Parma returned to Italy’s top flight have been closely fought. The much-admired Emilia-Romagna outfit should better last year’s tally of 41 points and will take the game to the Bianconeri, much in the same vein as the six-goal thriller last February. An entertaining 2-2 final score is 25/1.
