Juventus vs. Parma Predictions and Preview
With 30 minutes remaining on the clock, Juventus appeared set for their first league loss of the season when Emre Can put through his own net against Lazio. The deficit prompted Allegri to bring on wideman Federico Bernardeschi and full-back Joao Cancelo and the duo were in inspired form. Bernardeschi’s lung busting run was the catalyst for Cancelo’s equaliser and the Portuguese was a revelation in a more advanced role.
The former Inter loanee is a defender by trade but his searing pace completed unsettled the Aquile backline with Wallace substituted in the closing stages. Cristiano Ronaldo was predictably the difference maker as his penalty secured all three points and the number 7 is 3/1 to open the scoring against Parma. Ronaldo is likely to spearhead the attack with at least one of Bernardeschi or Cancelo coming in at the expense of Douglas Costa.
General Miralem Pjanic should return after sitting out the trip to Stadio Olimpico with a calf issue and the Bosnian was a glaring miss at the base of the Bianconeri midfield. Juventus are 2/11 to chalk up yet another success in the league.
Travelling party Parma are one of the feelgood stories of the year. The much admired Emilia-Romagna outfit were sorely missed during their spell in the lower leagues but have returned with aplomb.
Roberto D’Aversa’s troops are in 12th place, in no danger of relegation and will take the game to their esteemed rivals with Gervinho and Italy international Roberto Inglese leading the line and linking up well. The Gialloblù are backed at 25/1 to shock the hosts and 11/2 to pick up a share of the spoils.
One to watch for Juventus: Paulo Dybala will continue to deputise in the absence of Mandzukic and is 6/5 to strike anytime. The diminutive Argentine is due a big performance following Bernardeschi and Cancelo’s match winning contributions last weekend.
One to watch for Parma: Inglese has a very respectable eight-goal haul and has developed in to a reliable presence upfront. The big striker is 12/1 to bag anytime and will relish the physical battle with Bianconeri colossus Giorgio Chiellini.
Long shot: Despite the gulf in squads, Parma will not feel overawed. The Gialloblù have toppled Inter, Fiorentina and Torino, three clubs with European ambitions but their reappearance in Italy’s top flight would surely be complete with a triumph against the title holders. A 1-0 outcome is 50/1.
