Juventus v Sampdoria Predictions and Preview
The Scudetto holders are set to revert to the 3-5-2 setup that took them to two Champions League finals in three seasons. Pirlo was of course instrumental in Max Allegri’s side and the switch in formation would benefit the majority of the squad.
Ronaldo is expected to ultimately be joined by either Edin Dzeko or Luis Suarez upfront, though Pirlo may have to utilise Paulo Dybala as the Portuguese superstar’s partner for this weekend’s curtain raiser.

|Juan Cuadrado to score first||9/1||Offer|
|Over 2.5 goals||8/15||Offer|
|Juventus to win 2-0||11/2||Offer|
The Juventus number 7 is 2/1 to open proceedings and will be gunning for the golden boot after falling short last term. Ronaldo struck on 31 occasions and would fare particularly well with Dzeko as the Roma hitman has similar attributes to Karim Benzema who worked tirelessly and occupied opposing centre-halves as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner relentlessly smashed in the goals.
Dybala still has a role to play. The Argentine is a fan favourite and only five away from a century of strikes for the club. The 26-year-old is 15/4 to break the deadlock and has even been earmarked as a future captain of the Bianconeri once stalwarts Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci retire.
Weston McKennie was a surprise addition but impressed in the 5-0 thrashing over Novara. The American should make his competitive debut alongside fellow new recruit Arthur and Rodrigo Bentancur in a midfield trio. Juventus are 1/4 to record all three points.
Travelling party Sampdoria finished in midtable last term and will be led by Claudio Ranieri. The well-respected veteran has firepower in the ranks with evergreen Fabio Quagliarella, Manolo Gabbiadini and Federico Bonnazzoli battling for starting roles.
Former Southampton ace Gabbiadini is 7/2 to net anytime, while Quagliarella is 16/5 in the same market. The Doria skipper remains as important as ever and incredibly won the Serie A golden boot at 36. Ranieri’s troops are 12/1 to pull off a shock result and a draw is 5/1.
One to watch for Juventus: Dejan Kulusevski shone while on loan at Parma and is blessed with both great pace and technique. The Swede, who is highly rated by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo, is 4/1 to notch last.
One to watch for Sampdoria: Bonnazzoli is another player off the Inter production line and there were strong reports the Nerazzurri wanted to bring the forward back to Giuseppe Meazza. The Doria attacker is 7/2 to bag anytime.
Long shot: All eyes will be on the home dugout as Pirlo takes charge of Juventus competitively for the first time. The Bianconeri deservedly start the new term as favourites for the title but have taken a risk with the Italian’s appointment. Nevertheless, the hosts are formidable in Turin and only failed to take something from one of their 19 fixtures in 2019-20. A comfortable 4-0 outcome is 14/1.
