Juventus v Sassuolo Predictions and Preview

Juventus boast a superb record against Sassuolo over the years, and the Bianconeri will hope to keep that going when they host the Neroverdi at the Allianz Stadium this week. With Max Allegri’s methods starting to pay dividends, the Old Lady should pick up a key win on Wednesday.

Sassuolo have only managed to beat Juve once in 16 attempts, since they were promoted to Serie A in 2013. The Bianconeri have been victorious on 12 occasions, winning both meetings between the clubs last season 3-1.

They may have an issue in that Cristiano Ronaldo has scored six of Juve’s last 16 goals against Sassuolo, and without the Portuguese, the Old Lady look a little blunter this season. However, Allegri has tightened up their leaky defence of late, allowing Juventus to win four of their five games prior to Sunday’s trip to Inter 1-0.

Indeed, Juve took a nine-match unbeaten run into that game, winning the last seven of those, including big victories against the likes of Chelsea, Roma and local rivals Torino. The home team are the heavy favourites in this Juventus v Sassuolo preview, priced at 8/15 in the latest odds for the game.

The visitors are 6/1, as they look for their first ever away win against the Old Lady. The Neroverdi lost key midfielder Manuel Locatelli to Juve in the summer, and they’ve toiled during the early stages of the season without the Italy international pulling the strings.

Alessio Dionisi’s side only managed to win two of their opening eight fixtures, losing four times to sit just above the relegation zone ahead of their home game against Venezia at the weekend. Sassuolo would surely be more than happy with a point at the Allianz Stadium, with the draw on Wednesday priced at 15/4. The home win to nil looks a more appealing bet though at 2/1

One to watch for Juventus: Paulo Dybala has scored five goals in his last seven starts against Sassuolo. The Argentine is fit again following an injury and well worth a look to open the scoring in these Juventus v Sassuolo predictions.

One to watch for Sassuolo: Domenico Berardi scored four goals in his last six appearances for club and country, ahead of the weekend. The Italy international is also worth keeping an eye on in the anytime scorer market on Wednesday.

Long shot: Could this be the game where the shackles come off for Juve? The Bianconeri thrashed the Neroverdi 7-0 a few years ago, and while a repeat of that result looks unlikely, perhaps a 4-0 home win could be on the cards at 25/1 in these Juventus v Sassuolo tips.
