Juventus v Torino Predictions and Preview

Andrea Pirlo rested Ronaldo for the encounter with newly promoted Benevento in the previous gameweek but the Scudetto holders failed to secure all three points. The Portuguese superstar was handed a rare rest ahead of a gruelling period of matches and, much like former side Real Madrid, there is an overreliance on the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to be the difference maker.

The 35-year-old will come straight back in to the eleven and look to add to his haul of nine strikes and two assists from just seven appearances. Ronaldo is 2/1 to open proceedings, but will not be partnered by Alvaro Morata after his team-mate saw red in Campania.

The Spaniard will sit out the Derby di Torino and his absence has caused a selection dilemma for Pirlo with Dybala out of sorts. It has been well documented the Argentine is not compatible with Ronaldo in a two, in contrast, Morata is a foil for the evergreen forward and has also struck on eight occasions.

Dybala will feature in some capacity, but Juventus could initially line-up in a 4-3-3 with Federico Chiesa and Kulusevski flanking the number 7. The Fiorentina recruit has looked bright since making the move and is 5/4 to net anytime, while Dybala is 7/5 in the same market. Juventus are 2/5 to claim victory and the bragging rights.

Struggling Toro have endured a miserable start to the term. Marco Giampaolo was appointed in the summer after a spell out of the game and is reportedly on the verge of dismissal unless he can turn things around swiftly.

The Swiss born manager is trying to repair his reputation after lasting just seven weeks in the Milan dugout and the silverware accumulated across the city will only heighten tension at boardroom level.

On a more positive note, Belotti has a good record against Juventus and is 15/4 to break the deadlock. The Italy international is back on the radar of Inter and it is only a matter of time before he moves on to a club challenging for honours. Torino are 6/1 to emerge triumphant and a share of the spoils is 4/1.

One to watch for Juventus: Adrien Rabiot has been the standout Bianconeri midfielder this campaign and is back in favour with the French national team. The ex-PSG ace is 9/2 to register anytime.

One to watch for Torino: Federico Bonazzoli averaged one in three for Sampdoria last season and is expected to partner Belotti upfront. The Manerbio native is 20/1 to bag last.

Long shot: The form book goes out the window on derby day and Torino can take heart from the Scudetto holders’ inability to beat Benevento. Juventus will miss first-choice pairing Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini and time is running out for Giampaolo. A 2-1 away success is 22/1.
