Juventus vs. Udinese Predictions and Preview

The champions are now 16 points clear at the top after their 2-1 victory against closest challengers Napoli at San Paolo. The contest was marred by an early dismissal for Azzurri goalkeeper Alex Meret who was adjudged to have fouled Ronaldo on the edge of his box after a wayward backpass from defender Kevin Malcuit.

The young Italian stopper came rushing out but on closer inspection there appeared to be little contact between both men. Miralem Pjanic also received his marching orders after the break, levelling up the playing field for the top two teams in Italy and will sit out the game against Udinese.

The Bianconeri have quite rightly been praised for their astonishing efforts in the league but boss Max Allegri has come under severe criticism for his lack of rotation. Allegri very rarely rests any of his starting line-up and the former Milan tactician bore the brunt of the media disapproval after the comprehensive Champions League defeat away at Atletico Madrid.

The hope locally is that key regulars Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Blaise Matuidi, even Cristiano Ronaldo, are rested, particularly with another domestic title all but wrapped up.

Moise Kean would be a likely beneficiary of a reshuffled side and is an attractive 13/2 to open the scoring. Juventus are 2/7 to register another triumph.

Visitors Udinese are going in the right direction. Davide Nicola’s troops are seven points clear of 18th place Bologna and have Cagliari in their sights. The Zebrette are 9/1 to hand Juventus their first loss and 4/1 to pick up a point.

Latest Form

One to watch for Juventus: Emre Can came up with the winner against Napoli and is 11/1 to repeat his expolits and score the final effort of the match.

One to watch for Udinese: Italy international Kevin Lasagna is 12/1 in the same last scorer market and is the Zebrette’s chief threat.

Long shot: Udinese have shored things up defensively in recent weeks and will prove tough opposition for a Juventus side famed for their substance over style approach. Despite this, the Bianconeri are overwhelming favourites and available at 7/1 to win 3-0.
