Juventus vs. Udinese Serie A Betting Tips and Preview

Olimpico Top

Juventus have the chance to go top of Serie A when Udinese visit Turin on Sunday afternoon.

After Paulo Dybala’s heroics last weekend in the capital, and Napoli’s shock defeat at the hands of Roma, the ascendency has shifted to Max Allegri’s men and few would doubt Italy’s most successful club to falter, particularly with a game in hand.

Last time: The Bianconeri thrashed Udinese 6-2 in October, despite going down to ten men after Mario Mandzukic’s first-half dismissal. Sami Khedira hit a career first treble while Daniele Rugani and Miralem Pjanic also netted for the champions. Stipe Perica and Danilo got on the scoresheet for the Zebrette.

Juventus v Udinese Predictions and Preview

The Bianconeri are back on the home front after sealing qualification to the last eight of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Allegri’s side struggled in the first 45 minutes against Tottenham Hotspur, going a goal behind, but then the Italian boss completely outclassed opposite number Mauricio Pochettino and the Spurs boss simply had no response. This may not be the best Juventus eleven compared to previous seasons, but there is still an abundance of quality, experience and star quality upfront to make them contenders in the latter stages of the tournament.

Allegri was boosted by the return of Gonzalo Higuain for the Last 16 tie and it was a titanic effort from the frontman. The ex-Napoli spearhead made his return after over two weeks on the sidelines and delivered when it mattered most.

Higuain will seek a sixth league goal in five appearances and is 5/2 to open proceedings and this is a popular bet. The Old Lady are the strong favourites to clinch the three points, priced at 3/10 and should have too much for the visitors.

Udinese are 69/5 to register their first triumph in five clashes and have slipped of late. Massimo Oddo’s squad are only just outside the top ten, but, encouragingly, face each of the current bottom three before the season concludes and 9 points from these fixtures should be the aim.

The Friuli club certainly face an uphill task but have beaten Juventus in recent memory. Cyril Thereau was the unlikely match winner when Udinese travelled in the 2015-16 term, and a repeat of this feat two and a half year later would be the perfect boost going in to the final 11 contests.

Latest Form

One to watch for Juventus: Dybala has a decent record against Udine, averaging a goal in each of the last four meetings between the sides. The Argentine is 4/5 to strike any time during the 90.

One to watch for Udinese: Czech talent Jakub Jankto played in a more advanced role in the defeat at Sampdoria but looked comfortable. The 22-year-old is 24/1 to score first.

Long shot: Juventus are in unstoppable form domestically and on course for an 11th consecutive league triumph. In this period, the Bianconeri have been formidable going forward, and, equally, have been near impenetrable defensively, conceding only once against Verona. A 5-0 victory is 33/1 and would further boost the club’s extraordinary goal difference.
