Villarreal will travel to Turin on Wednesday with a real belief that they can overcome their hosts and reach the quarter final stage of the Champions League for the first time since 2009. Juventus will have something to say about that, of course, and will start as favourites.

Last time: These two met for the very first time in the first leg of this round of 16 tie when Dušan Vlahovicć scored within the first minute.

Juventus vs. Villarreal Predictions and Preview

Juventus would seem to have an excellent chance to progress further than the round of 16 for the first time in three seasons on Wednesday when it kicks off at home against Villarreal with everything all square. Dušan Vlahovicć scored the Bianconeri’s goal in his first ever minute of Champions League football in that game and already looks like the striker the club has been craving since Cristiano Ronaldo left Turin.

But Villarreal will fancy their chances on Wednesday after managing to contain Juve in the first leg after that early goal – and managing to unlock an uncharacteristically slack Italian defence to end the game 1-1.

Weston McKennie will be missing for the Serie A side after suffering a broken foot in Villarreal and the La Liga side come into this one off the back of an impressive run of form that has seen them lose just twice in the last 12 games.

Juventus vs. Villarreal full time result odds

Villarreal will probably look to contain Juventus in Turin and attack on the counter when possible. A home win should be the eventual outcome though – and that can be found at odds of 17/20. There is an outside chance of another draw after 90 minutes at a more attractive 12/5 though.

Juventus vs. Villarreal both teams to score odds

Neither of these two clubs are particularly prolific – but they are fairly evenly matched with the players at their disposal to score a few goals. This encounter may be a little more defensive by nature, but both teams could well find the net at odds of 21/20.

Juventus vs. Villarreal correct score odds

Villarreal showed in the group stage that they are more than capable of causing an upset on Italian soil, as they beat Atalanta on the final match day to progress to this stage. Juve are a different prospect though and the home side to win 2-1 looks like good value at 17/2.

Juventus vs. Villarreal first goalscorer odds

It is difficult to look past Dušan Vlahović for the first goal scorer after his display in the first leg. He is the favourite at around 7/2 – and it is more likely that it will be Juventus to score first. But the goals have been shared around the squad in recent games, so Álvaro Morata at 4/1 is a decent shout as well.
