Kilmarnock are looking to end their winless start to the season as they welcome Dundee United to Rugby Park on Saturday afternoon. The newly-promoted visitors have made an encouraging start to the campaign on their return to the top flight though, and won’t be a pushover this weekend.

Kilmarnock v Dundee United Predictions and Preview
There was plenty of controversy at the curtailment of last season’s Scottish football leagues, with Dundee United taking the place of a team in the Premiership who were relegated without completing all of their fixtures. The Terrors have shown that they look worthy of their spot in the top flight though, and are looking to continue their promising start against Kilmarnock.
Saturday’s hosts have made a poor start to the campaign, losing three of their first five matches and drawing the other two. Killie have had to play Celtic, Rangers and Hibernian in the early weeks of the season, managing a point against the champions, but their winless run now stands at 10 games going back to last term.
Manager Alex Dyer is responsible for all of those fixtures after getting the Kilmarnock job on a permanent basis during lockdown. Opposite number Micky Mellon, on the other hand, has got to grips with his first role as either a player or manager in his homeland pretty well, following his arrival from Tranmere Rovers in July.

Under 1.5 goals
Dundee United to win 1-0
Over 5.5 goals
United have won two of their five matches so far, with their only two losses both narrow 1-0 defeats to Celtic and Hibs. The Terrors have scored nine goals in their last two games against Killie in beating the Rugby Park outfit 4-2 and 5-1, albeit with both of those matches taking place in 2016.
Even so, the latest odds are quite close for this weekend’s clash, with Killie only slight favourites for the win at 14/1. United are 26/11, while you can back the draw on Saturday at 28/11. Dundee have been strong at the back so far this term, conceding only four in five games, so an under 1.5 goals bet could prove solid value at 2/1.
One to watch for Kilmarnock: Chris Burke has made a great start to the season with three goals in five games, and he’s worth a look in the first scorer market on Saturday.
One to watch for Dundee United: Nicky Clark has two so far this term, including the winner against Ross County and the opener against St Johnstone. He could be interesting to break the deadlock once again here.
Long shot: The last two meetings between these sides have both produced six goals. They were both more than four years ago, but an over 5.5 goals bet this weekend is priced at 22/1. United are 150/1 to make it back-to-back 4-2 victories over Killie.
