Lazio v Inter Predictions and Preview

With 15 rounds remaining, Simone Inzaghi has publicly urged caution as his men continue to go blow for both with the top two. Privately, the talented tactician will believe in his troops and with the firepower at his disposal, it is absolutely conceivable to see Lazio win their first Scudetto since 2000.

The Biancocelesti have so far outscored the champions and Antonio Conte’s troops, and also conceded less than Juventus. Ciro Immobile leads the goalscoring standings with 25, five more than closest rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

The hitman is 10/3 to open proceedings while strike partner Felipe Caicedo is 6/1 in the same market. The duo will relish the battle with Inter’s giant back three and have contributed a whopping 42 goals between them across all competitions this season. Lazio are 13/10 to claim victory and 12/5 to take a point.

Visitors Inter are also in jubilant mood. The Nerazzurri memorably came back from a two-goal deficit to get the better of neighbours Milan in the Derby last weekend. Conte had a number of standout performers with Alexis Sanchez deputising admirably for Lautaro Martinez.

Despite this, the Nerazzurri number 10 is expected to return to the eleven and is 2/1 to net anytime and add to his 16-goal haul. Winter addition Christian Eriksen is 10/3 in the same market, though the Dane may have to settle for a place on the bench as he gradually gets to grips with the demands of a new league.

Inter are 19/10 to register a 17th league win and extend their advantage over Lazio to four points in the process.

One to watch for Lazio: Luis Alberto has moved in to a more withdrawn role and, pleasingly for Inzaghi, his output has not been affected. The Spaniard is 9/2 to bag anytime.

One to watch for Inter: Stefan de Vrij will meet some familiar faces when he returns to Rome and will have a part to play at both ends of the pitch. The Dutchman is a colossal figure alongside Diego Godin and Milan Skriniar, but is also a real threat in the oppositions box. De Vrij is 14/1 to score anytime.

Long shot: First and foremost, both clubs will want to avoid defeat and there is a danger both outfits cancel each other out. A draw would not be the worst result for either, though it would be a real shock given the embarrassment of attacking riches in the respective camps. A 0-0 outcome is 12/1.
