Levante v Atletico Madrid Predictions and Preview

In addition to their victory over Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano last season, Levante also secured a 1-1 draw at home to the 2020-21 champions. Los Rojiblancos may have done the double over their hosts on Thursday the season before, but they’ve got work to do to get back on the winning trail against the Granotes here.

Diego Simeone’s side have started to show signs of getting back to their miserly best over recent weeks, although their 3-2 defeat away to Liverpool in the Champions League last week was a setback in that regard. They may have been undone by Antoine Griezmann’s red card at the start of the second half, but the score was already 2-2 at that stage.

Atletico need a big week here, as they follow up their home game against high-flying Real Sociedad with this trip to Valencia and a home game against Real Betis. Levante are also desperate for a big week. The visit of the champions comes hot on the heels of Sunday’s away game against Sevilla, with Granada coming up at home on Monday.

Javier Pereira’s side failed to win any of their opening nine fixtures ahead of the weekend, although the Levante coach will take some heart from the fact that they only actually lost four of those matches. The Granotes will need to be at their best to avoid defeat here, with the hosts priced at 11/2 for the win in this Levante v Atletico Madrid preview.

The away team are the 8/13 favourites, as they bid to put last season’s blip against Levante behind them. Diego Simeone can call on a near fully-fit squad at present with only Marcos Llorente injured, meaning his attacking riches consisting of the likes of Griezmann, Luis Suarez and Joao Felix are all fit and well. In the circumstances, a draw would be very disappointing for the visitors at 29/10

One to watch for Levante: Jose Morales has a couple of goals to his name already this season, having netted 13 for the Granotes last term. The midfielder could be worth a look in the anytime scorer market in these Levante v Atletico Madrid predictions.

One to watch for Atletico Madrid: Antoine Griezmann is hoping to rediscover his top form, and showed he still has what it takes at the top level with a brace against Liverpool prior to his somewhat unfortunate sending off. Look out for him to break the deadlock on Thursday.

Long shot: Atleti haven’t been at their best so far this season, conceding more goals than we’re used to through the early weeks of the campaign. The home team are available at 36/1 to repeat last season’s 2-0 triumph at the Wanda Metropolitano back on home soil in these Levante v Atletico Madrid tips.
