Lille v Milan Predictions and Preview

Christophe Galtier’s troops are formidable defensively and have only conceded on seven occasions in the league. After 11 rounds of action, Lille trail champions PSG by two points and are well placed to match last season’s fourth-place finish.

Summer acquisition Sven Botman has been a revelation alongside skipper Jose Fonte at the back. The imposing Dutchman arrived for Ajax for a modest €8m and Les Dogues are expected to triple their return when the 20-year-old moves on in the future. Botman has already been linked to Liverpool and is the latest in a long line of astute signings made by director of football Luis Campos.

Yazici is the chief threat and will want to give the Rossoneri backline another torrid night. The Turkey ace is an appealing 9/1 to open proceedings, while partner Burak Yilmaz is available at 4/1. The well-travelled attacker’s career has spanned nearly 20 years and he is still proving a handful.

Meanwhile, Jonathan David, who arrived to much fanfare in August, is 9/4 to notch anytime and has been tipped for the very top. Les Dogues are 13/10 to claim the spoils and a draw is 12/5.

Elsewhere, the Rossoneri have been dealt a huge blow with Zlatan Ibrahimovic now on the sidelines for the next 10 days. The talismanic figure suffered a hamstring injury in the 3-1 win over Napoli and Ante Rebic is likely to deputise for the Serie A top scorer.

Rebic offers great versatility and is comfortable anywhere across the forward line. The Croatian is 13/2 to break the deadlock and Hakan Calhanoglu is 11/4 to strike anytime.

With Rafael Leao also rules out, Jens Petter Hauge could also feature from the opening whistle. The Bodø/Glimt recruit sealed proceedings in Naples and is 8/1 to register last. Milan are 19/10 to emerge triumphant and leapfrog their French counterparts in the process.

One to watch for Lille: Jonathan Bamba has shone in Ligue 1 this term and was unlucky not to be called up to Didier Deschamps’ squad for the most recent internationals. The winger is 12/5 to net anytime.

One to watch for Milan: Pioli tends to rotate his squad in Europe and Brahim Diaz should come in to the eleven. The loanee is an attractive 10/1 to bag the final effort.

Long shot: Lille know they can beat Milan and their success in the reverse fixture is all the more impressive given the Rossoneri remain unbeaten in domestic competition. Nevertheless, a stalemate would not be the worst result for either dressing room and both are likely to advance to the knock-out phase of the tournament. A 0-0 outcome is 19/2.
