Malmo v Rangers Predictions and Preview
Rangers go in search of revenge 10 years after the fact in this Champions League qualifier, with the Teddy Bears bidding to reach the competition’s group stages for the first time in more than a decade. The Gers haven’t been in the Champions League proper since 2010-11, while Malmo beat the other Glasgow giants, Celtic, en route to their last appearance in the groups in 2015-16.
There’s still another round of qualifying to get through after this one, which is harsh given both of these clubs are national champions. Even so, it’s all about getting to the play-off round, and Rangers are the 6/5 favourites to give themselves a great chance of doing so by winning this first leg.
The Gers enjoyed a strong pre-season campaign, claiming draws against Premier League duo Arsenal and Brighton, before beating the mighty Real Madrid in their final friendly. Saturday’s game against Livingston puts a valuable 90 minutes of competitive action into their legs prior to these Malmo v Rangers predictions.

The Swedish outfit are the 12/5 underdogs in this game, despite boasting home form and enjoying a rest at the weekend. The Sky Blues are midway through their domestic campaign but have had a week off following the second leg of their Champions League qualifier against HJK last Tuesday.
Former Newcastle United, Feyenoord and Milan forward Jon Dahl Tomasson is the Malmo manager, and he’s guided his team to nine wins, two draws and two defeats from their 13 league games so far this season.
Malmo have won both of their home games in Champions League qualifying so far in this campaign, beating Riga and HJK in the first leg before drawing away to seal safe passage. A draw in this one would certainly leave the Swedes in with a chance back at Ibrox, with the stalemate priced at 23/10 with William Hill.
One to watch for Malmo: Croatian forward Antonio Colak has scored three goals in four games so far in these qualifiers, and he’s well worth a look for the first goal here.
One to watch for Rangers: Kemar Roofe netted 18 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions last term, and he’s also one to watch in the first scorer marker.
Long shot: Rangers were superb last season, finishing 25 points ahead of bitter local rivals Celtic to win the Scottish title. The Light Blues should be full of confidence in this game and they are 21/1 to turn that into a convincing 3-0 victory in these Malmo v Rangers tips.
